Liverpool vs Arsenal Match Preview

The Reds have enjoyed a decent start to the season. They missed out on the Community Shield but acquitted themselves fairly well in the absence of Sadio Mané, losing on penalties after a 1-1 draw. Liverpool took a 4-0 lead before halftime against Norwich, affording them the opportunity to take their foot off the gas for the remainder of the game. Chelsea went toe to toe with Liverpool in the UEFA Supercup, with only penalties separating the two sides. Once again, Liverpool displayed lapses in concertation at St Mary’s almost allowing Southampton to grab an unlikely 2-2 draw.

Arsenal were professional yet uninspiring in their season opener away at Newcastle. The Gunners were fortunate not to concede to a Joelinton header but were comfortably the better side. Against Burnley they looked vulnerable in defence but created more chances this time around. Dani Ceballos made his first start and ran the show in a Man of the Match performance, assisting both of Arsenal’s goals.

Liverpool vs Arsenal Betting Tips

Liverpool enter this match as heavy favourites but haven’t quite hit their stride this season. They have looked uncharacteristically poor in defence and look vulnerable to the Arsenal attack, especially with the emergence of Dani Ceballos as a creative force. The Gunners also look defensively suspect and will struggle to stop Liverpool from scoring. With that said, both teams to score looks likely and is well priced at 4/7.

There is no shortage of potential goalscorers in this encounter. Last season’s Premier League top scorers, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Mo Salah and Sadio Mané are all likely to bag a goal but we’re backing Roberto Firmino for this encounter. Firmino has an excellent record against Arsenal, having scored eight times since 2016. Seven of those goals came at Anfield, including a hat-trick in their 5-1 victory last December.
