Newcastle vs Brighton Predictions

A first win of the season evaded Newcastle in their recent trip to Old Trafford despite the Magpies going 2-0 up. Those who backed Rafa Benitez’ men at Bet365 still got paid out at 9/1 thanks to their two-goal lead rule even though they went on to lose the match! This weekend, they entertain Brighton at St. James’s – theoretically an easier proposition than their previous Premier League fixture. The Seagulls, it’s probably fair to say, are an average side in the contest of the division, but they’ll be no pushovers for Newcastle. In fact, I can see the visitors picking up at least a point. For that reason, Brighton/Draw double chance looks a worthy bet, with Coral going 8/11.

Newcastle vs Brighton Anytime Goalscorer Odds

Glenn Murray has made a career out of proving people wrong and at the ripe old age of 35, he continues to do just that. The ex-Palace forward looked finished at Bournemouth before re-signing for Brighton and is currently enjoying his most fruitful start yet to a Premier League campaign. Only Eden Hazard has scored more goals this season than Murray, whose excellent touch and link-up play has been coupled with a clinical streak in front of goal. Can he keep it up? Well, at 5/2, I’d be interested to find out. That’s what price Unibet are offering on him scoring anytime, which looks extremely lengthy given current form.

Newcastle vs Brighton Total Match Goals Odds

Newcastle have notched just six times in eight outings this season – and two of those came in a freak 10-minute spell against Manchester United two weeks ago. They are desperately devoid of a cutting edge and it would be brave to take too much confidence from their first half display at Old Trafford. Brighton concede more than they score, but in truth, they, too, don’t score many. I’m not expecting oodles of action in the final third here, which has directed me towards backing under 2.5 goals in the match. That’s 8/13 with Betfair and while not lump-worthy in its own right, could make an excellent booster in a multiple.

Newcastle vs Brighton Betting Preview

Newcastle to win – 11/8

Draw – 11/5

Brighton to win – 11/4

I’d want a lot longer than 11/8 on Newcastle winning this weekend considering we’re approaching November and they’re still yet to get three points on the board.

That’s taking into account the fact that Albion have lost half of their eight Premier League contests up until this point. On the face of it, neither side have shown too much to strike fear into the other although there’s no doubt that it is the visitors who have enjoyed a better start to the campaign.

A draw is around 11/5, which is shorter than usual, but perhaps indicative of how the average punter might expect to see this conclude.
