Southampton vs Crystal Palace Predictions and Betting Tips: Premier League Preview

Southampton betting tips

Southampton vs Crystal Palace predictions and betting tips for this midweek Premier League fixture on Wednesday 30th January with an anytime goalscorer tip and goals prediction included.

This is an intriguing Premier League clash between two sides who have hit form in recent weeks. The Saints look a completely different side under the tutelage of Ralph Hassenhutl and fans have long forgotten the insipid Mark Hughes tenure. They are scoring goals and looking a threat although they still have a penchant for conceding sloppy goals.

Palace were victorious in the FA Cup and gave Liverpool a battle ten days ago and Roy Hodgson’s side will fancy their chances of getting something from this encounter. However, Southampton may be fitter and fresher having not played this weekend. See our Southampton vs Crystal Palace predictions below.

Southampton vs Crystal Palace Predictions

Southampton fans are enjoying life under their new coach and since the Austrian took over at St.Marys, they’ve won four of their seven Premier League games. He’s had quite the impact, although realistically, he has got their talented squad playing at their expected level and he’s finally getting the most out of James Ward-Prowse, Nathan Redmond and Shane Long. The Saints are scoring goals and they’ve netted twelve times in those seven matches despite facing some stiff opposition. With a season’s total of just 25 goals, almost 50% of their goals have arrived since December 16th and the turnaround has been impressive.

Palace were slow-starters this season and their home form is still baffling but they’ve been much better on the road and their performances recently have been hugely encouraging. They’ve only won one of the last five matches but they’ve lined up against Chelsea and Liverpool during that run of games and their famous win at the Etihad is still firmly in the minds of the travelling supporters. Palace are better away from home and they come off the back of an FA Cup victory but Southampton have enjoyed a good long break and the chance to freshen up may just give them the edge here.

A home win is the first of our Southampton vs Crystal Palace betting tips for Wednesday night.

Southampton vs Crystal Palace Goals Betting Tips

Palace are towards the bottom of the goals charts this season with just nine of their matches featuring three or more goals however it’s at Selhurst Park where their troubles in the final third have largely taken place. 58% of their away games this season have featured three or more goals including four of their last five PL games. Southampton have found their shooting boots in recent weeks and they’ve already amassed decent numbers when it comes to goals this season. 73% of their home matches have seen Over 2.5 Goals land and the fans have enjoyed plenty of entertainment lately. Each of their last five matches at St.Marys have been goal-fests and with Over 2.5 Goals available at 21/20 with Sporting Bet, it looks too good to miss. It is the second of our Southampton vs Crystal Palace betting tips this evening.

Southampton vs Crystal Palace Anytime Goalscorer Predictions

I keep returning to Nathan Redmond for my anytime goalscorer bets in Southampton games and the winger has been in excellent, prolific form recently. He didn’t find the net under December 22nd but has since netted on five occasions and is clearly enjoying life under the new coach. He didn’t find the net against Everton last weekend but I suspect he will get plenty of opportunities in this game and he should be backed at a decent price to score at any point during this tie. Nathan Redmond is the third of Southampton vs Crystal Palace betting tips for tonight.

Southampton vs Crystal Palace Match Betting Preview

The Saints beat Everton in their last home matches and they can be backed at 27/20 to pick up another three points in front of their own fans here. Palace are betting on the road and can be supported at 9/4. It’s 12/5 for the game to end all-square on the south coast.

It’s Evens for Over 2.5 Goals and this decent price is generally available across the board. The more ambitious may prefer Over 3.5 Goals which is priced up at 12/5.

Danny Ings is the favourite in the first goalscorer market at 4/1 and he is just ahead of want-away striker Charlie Austin in the betting. Irish workhorse Shane Long is priced at 13/2 to break the deadlock in this game. Wilfried Zaha is likely to be a popular choice and he is 7/1 to score the opener on Wednesday night.
