The Hornets have conceded at least two in four of their last five Premier League matches and have generally found the net themselves, but I question whether they will do so today. I’m expecting Chelsea to take control of the game and keep things on their terms, particularly as they’ll be conscious of the fact that Spurs are now five points clear of them following Saturday’s blip. I fancy an away win with a defensive approach winning the day.

I think a 2-0 scoreline very much fits the pattern of Chelsea’s recent games although I’m acutely aware of the fact that Watford will be doing all they can to prevent their opponents from leaving Vicarage Road with three points to show for the trip. The Hornets’ recent results show they are prone to conceding which is why their current league position appears to have slipped under the radar somewhat. Incredibly, Watford currently sit in seventh place – just two points behind Manchester United – so it’s clear they’re no mugs. I do think they’ll struggle to overcome Chelsea’s style today, however, with a 2-0 away win jumping off the page.

Watford fans will have fond memories of the last time these two met given that it was the Hornets who handed a 4-1 larruping earlier this year. That meeting, back in February, saw Chelsea reduced to ten men and completely fall apart during the second half.

I’d have to be extremely hard-pushed to say I can see a similar result unfolding tonight but I also wouldn’t have imagined that Chelsea would lose at home to Leicester a few days ago.
