Let’s be honest with ourselves here – Watford have had a far better start to the season than many predicted during the summer. Their impressive victory away at odds-defying Wolves last weekend lifted them to seventh in the Premier League table, ahead of the likes of Manchester United and Everton. They welcome Huddersfield this weekend – one of only two clubs yet to win so far – and will be looking to exploit one of the division’s weakest defences. I can see Watford taking The Terriers to task here. Okay, they’ve not exactly been banging goals in during this impressive patch but they’ll surely look to take advantage of the visitors’ weaknesses. The Hornets are even money to score 2 or more, which looks too long on paper.

The temptation with anytime goalscorer betting predictions is always to look at the strikers likely to be involved, but I’ve bucked that trend here. Watford’s Argentinian winger Roberto Pereyra bagged in his side’s recent victory at Wolves and was a key feature of their outstanding attacking showing during that match in particular. The former Juventus man – who has been capped 11 times by his country – is as long as 27/10 with Unibet to notch anytime this weekend, and who could write him off after last week? As we’ve mentioned, Watford have enjoyed a fantastic opening quarter of the campaign and are now faced with arguably their ‘easiest’ fixture yet. Okay, so in reality no Premier League match is ever a walk in the park, but the sight of Huddersfield at home – in the shaky form that they’re in – will undoubtedly leave Watford fans quietly thinking another three points could be just around the corner. I’m inclined to agree with them, and the 4/5 up for grabs on them registering a fourth home Premier League win of the season makes it even easier for me to do so. Whilst not a long price, it’s worth remembering that Huddersfield have taken just two points from their four games on the road.

Draw – 5/2

Huddersfield to win – 9/2

With my colours nailed firmly to the mast, I’m finding it very difficult to make a convincing argument for any result other than a home win. That’s 4/5 in its own right, but I could see victory via a -1 handicap also landing. That’s as long as 2/1 with various firms, and will surely draw a few punters in.

Huddersfield are priced up at around 9/2, which for me isn’t quite long enough given they’re win-less with November just around the corner. David Wagner’s side desperately need to replicate what Cardiff did last weekend and get that first win on the board, but I don’t think it will be here.
