Preston vs Arsenal Predictions, Betting Tips and Preview

Preston vs Arsenal predictions and football betting tips for the FA Cup third round tie on Saturday 7th January with reasons for each bet and the best odds for the selections.

Arsenal travel to Deepdale on Saturday evening for a potentially tricky FA cup tie against Championship side Preston North End and here are two FA Cup tips for the game live on BT Sport.

Simon Grayson’s Preston side are currently sitting in 11th place in the Championship table and will be hoping for a strong second half of the season that may seem them creep into the play-off places. They are a very difficult side to beat and have only lost two league games in the last ten and credit must go to the manager as they are sitting above the likes of Aston Villa, Birmingham and QPR in the table. They have also produced some giant killing already this season in the EFL Cup when they defeated Bournemouth in the third round but a win against the 12 time winners of this famous competition would definitely top that.

Arsenal come into this game of the back of a brilliant comeback against Bournemouth and the match showed why they won’t win the title but will probably finish in the top four. Bournemouth outplayed the Gunners for the first seventy minutes and the score-line reflected that at 3-0 but the following twenty minutes was very impressive and coming down from three nil down in any match deserves credit. With the focus now turning to the FA cup it is more than likely that Arsene Wenger will ring the changes as he normally does in this competition but this hasn’t hindered them in recent years as they have won the competition twice in the past three years.

Preston vs Arsenal Predictions

My first Preston vs Arsenal betting tip for this televised FA cup game is going to be for there to be over 2.5 goals and both teams to score. I think this will be a real cup thriller and I expect goals. Preston have scored in nine of their last ten matches and did score when they hosted Manchester United in the FA cup a couple of seasons ago and Arsenal have scored 23 times in their last ten matches in all competitions and would expect to add to that tally here. Both teams to score and over 2.5 goals is 6/5 at Bet365 and this is my top tip for the game.

My second Preston vs Arsenal prediction is going to be for Lucas Perez to score first or last in this game. The summer signing hasn’t exactly set the world alight so far in his debut season in England but he has scored a Champions League hat-trick this season and did score in midweek against Bournemouth. I think he will definitely play a part in this game and grab a goal. His odds to score anytime at too short for me (odds on with some bookies) but I like the looks of 2/1 for Perez to score first or last with William Hill and this is my goalscorer tip for the game.

Preston North End vs Arsenal Team News

Preston will look to play their strongest team for this game to give them the best chance of an FA cup upset. The only player missing will be ex Leeds man Jermaine Beckford as he is still suspended following an incident on Boxing Day against Leeds. As mentioned previously I expect Arsenal to make changes and a number of their young players to get a chance to shine but Lucas Perez should be in the starting line-up after his fantastic volley against Bournemouth on Tuesday.

Preston North End vs Arsenal Head to Head

These sides haven’t met in a competitive fixture for over fifteen years and the last time they did meet was in a league cup fixture that Arsenal won 2-1. Preston did win their last league match against Arsenal, but this was back in 1960.

Preston vs Arsenal Betting Odds

Arsenal are favourites for this game and are best priced 4/9 for the win with Unibet. The draw is 17/4 at Stan James and a shock Preston win is 13/2 with SkyBet. Alexis Sanchez leads the first goal scorer market but I doubt the Chile international will play but if you are looking for a higher odds alternative than my Lucas Perez shout for first/last then Alex-Oxlade Chamberlain has grabbed a few goals this season and is 9/1 to open the scoring with Paddy Power.
