QPR vs Brighton betting tips, Prediction and Preview for the Friday night game in the Championship kicking off at 7.45pm.
QPR have lost their last two matches by a single goal but the R’s are strong in West London, can they halt Brighton’s march towards the Premier League?
Brighton moved a step closer to the top flight on Tuesday with a straightforward looking 3-1 victory over Birmingham. Of their remaining games, that was always going to be winnable and they continued their terrific record at the AMEX which has seen them victorious in 16 of their 21 home matches this season, losing just twice. Chris Hughton’s side have overcome injury set-backs to remain competitive in the top two and with Huddersfield hitting the buffers at just the wrong time it seems only a case of dotting the I’s and crossing the T’s. They’ve got a terrific mentality and the squad play for one another and importantly there’s plenty of quality in that starting XI. Their away record could be better with five defeats from 19 games on the road but it’s a long old slog and the Championship remains one of the most competitive divisions in Europe.
QPR found their feet after a potentially dangerous slow start under new boss Ian Holloway. The players appear to be preferring life under the charismatic Bristolian with the likes of Idrissa Sylla flourishing. He’s also implemented some of the younger players into the squad and building for the future. Their last two matches have seen them square up with the form team of the division – Aston Villa and a revitalised Derby County under new manager Gary Rowett. They are back at Loftus Road where they have been superb recently and can boast four consecutive wins. Rotherham, Barnsley, Wigan and Cardiff have all been seen off but this will be a much stiffer challenge.
They have tended to favour the 2-1 score-line at home recently and there’s every chance they will offer Brighton plenty of chances but the Seagulls must be aware of the Rangers threat which has seen them it 11 goals in their last 4 matches here.
The first place to visit is definitely the both teams to score market for our QPR vs Brighton predictions. It has landed in 9 consecutive QPR games here including against high flying Huddersfield and Fulham. They also netted against Reading here earlier in the campaign. Brighton have netted in 7 of their last 10 away games failing to score at Leeds (Tough place to go), Preston (They missed a last-minute penalty) and Nottingham Forest (No excuses – just a terrible performance). The odds for both teams to score are 7/10 with Betfair.
QPR will cause them problems and won’t be easy to see off here. The R’s may not be able to hold on for the whole 90 minutes but Sky Bet’s 5/4 on QPR to win either half looks good to me for our second betting tip on this Friday night fixture.
Finally, these sides have been sharing the goals around but Matt Smith may be able to use his height to good advantage here. Back the beanpole striker to get on the scoresheet here anytime at 11/4 with Betfred.
QPR have a realtively fit squad to choose from and Ian Holloway will have plenty of options at his disposal. They are likely to be without Stephen Caulker, Kazenga LuaLua and Jordan Cousins.
Brighton still have problems at the back with both Shane Duffy and Connor Goldson likely to be out until the end of the season. Tomer Hemed is back from a knock and scored in midweek providing competition for places.
QPR are looking for their first victory over Brighton since 2004 when they won 3-2 on the South Coast. Brighton have won 3-0 and 4-0 in the last two meetings but these were both at the AMEX and they traditionally struggle at this ground. It ended 2-2 here last season.
Brighton can be backed for an away win at around 11/10 but haven’t always been the most consistent on the road. A home win is around 5/2 whilst the draw may be popular and can also be backed at 5/2. Several Brighton players are jostling for position at the top of the goal-scorer market with Glenn Murray leading the way. He doesn’t score many on the road though.
Both Teams to Score – 17/20 with Betfair.
QPR to win either half – 5/4 with Sky Bet.
Matt Smith – Anytime Goalscorer – 11/4 with Betfred.
