Royal Ascot Day 4 Betting Tips – Through the Card Tips for Friday 19th June

Royal Ascot tips

I will preview the 7-race card and give my Royal Ascot day 4 tips along the way, with a preview of each race. Day 3 belonged to Stradivarius in the Gold Cup and now there are another seven races to get stuck into on Friday’s racecard.

The first race on the card starts at 1.15pm and if you bet £10 on this with a new 888Sport account, you will get a free bet for each of the next 4 races.

13.15 Palace of Holyroodhouse Handicap over 5f

I like the look of ART POWER trained by Tim Easterby and ridden by Silvestre de Sousa who has had a quiet Royal Ascot so far but has a great chance on this horse. He is a smart sprinter who is 2 out of 3 over 5f and 6f on soft ground and on the all-weather. With the raining fall at Royal Ascot this may go in the favour of ART POWER. He was last seen 18 days ago winning at Newcastle over 6f and the step down in trip should still suit so I expect him to be a leading player here. My each-way bet in this is MAYSTAR trained by Archie Watson and ridden by Hollie Doyle. He is a 4-time winner and is stepping down in trip for the handicap. He has won on soft ground and with some bookies paying 6 places. With rain expected he is a very good each-way bet at 16/1 currently with most bookies.

13.50 Albany Stakes (Fillies Group 3) (Class 1) 6f

Currently top of the market are joint-favourites Flying Aletha and Mother Earth. Both currently 4/1 with some bookies.

Both have had runs recently, Flying Aletha at Gulfstream 29 days ago winning over 5f and Mother Earth came second at Navan 9 days ago. These two will likely be involved, but I am going for the outsider DANDALLA as my each way betting tip. She looked like a speedster when winning on her debut at Newcastle 17 days ago. She is one who will look to improve and with her getting a stand side draw, she will look to dictate the running with her speed and be a player here. I think with her having the most time off the track that will play a factor in the race as I feel most of the British runners have had to rush their prep race for this.

14.25 Norfolk Stakes (group 2) 5f

Looking to win this race again for his family is THE LIR JET as his father did in the past. Ridden by Oisin Murphy and trained by M L W Bell. He made a big impression when winning on his debut 16 days ago at Yarmouth. His biggest challenger will be Eye of Heaven ridden by Frankie Dettori trained by Mark Johnston, he’s one from one when winning at Newmarket over 5f 15 days ago. THE LIR JET is drawn on the wing but that shouldn’t hamper him too much.

15.00 Hardwicke Stakes (Group 2) (class 1) (4Yo Plus) 1m 3f 211y

Well, what a week Jim Crowley is having here and he takes the ride for Mark Johnston’s stable superstar ELARQAM (NAP) here. He has been shaped for this as he is looking to go up to the 1m 4f mark and future progression should follow as he has been lightly raced recently. He is my NAP for the day. The contenders to watch for are Anthony Van Dyke, who ran a brilliant race against Ghaiyyath at Newmarket 14 days ago. However, I think he will find it hard to replicate that run. Fanny Logan proved her stamina over 1m 3f at Haydock 12 days ago when 2nd to Manuela De Vega and will be one to get involved here. One to watch out for in the market is Hamish.

15.35 Commonwealth Cup (Group 1) 6f

Currently leading the betting for this race is Pierre Lapin who is 2 out of 2 on runs. They were over 6f on good to firm ground. Trainer R Varian is having a good week here and this horse is a work in progress and is one to keep tabs on, but I think there are more experienced horses in the field. My pick for this race was Wooded who is now a non-runner. Golden Horde is a contender here. He’s placed in Group 1’s and he is sure to improve. My pick is LOPE Y FERNANDEZ with Ryan Moore on board and trained by Aidan O’Brien, who was second to speedster Pinatubo here last year and was third in the Irish Guineas a week ago. With the combo of O’Brien and Moore he will be one to follow.

16.10 Queen’s Vase (group 2) 1m 6f 34y

In the second last race of the day BORN WITH PRIDE (NB) is looking to add to her 1m listed win at Newmarket on debut. She will have put her poor run at Kempton 16 days ago behind her and the step up in trip will suit. With weight not being a problem (8st 11lbs) she is a leading player here.

Her closest contender will be Santiago ridden by Ryan Moore. He won at Listowel over 1m last September but he has been off the track for a while. Nobel Prize signed off as a 2-year-old over 1m at Naas in the mud back in November. So, connections will be hoping for more mud and rain again.

16.40 Duke of Edinburgh Stakes (Handicap) 1m 3f 211y

In the last race of Royal Ascot day 4, MEDAL WINNER is looking to mount a challenge for Oisin Murphy and Archie Watson. He has been successful at 1m 2f on good to firm ground and on the AW. He was a winner at Newcastle 17 days ago over 1m 2f. He will suit the step up and he will stay and is one I like for this.

He is my selection to win and my E/W selection is LE DON DE VIE trained by H Morrison and ridden by Ryan Moore. He was a progressive 3-year-old and he was 4th at Glorious Goodwood in a handicap on his debut for this yard. He is looking to bounce back and he is a type to do this and at currently 16/1 with Ladbrokes he is a strong E/W bet.

One to watch is West End Charmer who is a good horse and is the market favourite but does have a penalty. El Misk and Durston hold E/W claims.
