Royal Ascot Day 5 Betting Tips – Through the Card Predictions for EVERY Race
The final day at Royal Ascot and it has to be the best day of the week on paper. There 8 races for us to get stuck into and my day 5 Royal Ascot tips can be found below.
First though, you’ll need some free bets and if you bet £10 on a race with a new Coral account, you’ll get a free £10 bet for the next 3 races.
The opener is a tough 6f handicap known as the Silver Wokingham which is a consolation race for the actual Wokingham Stakes.
The horse I like in this is APLOMB 5/1 for the Haggas team. Aplomb is one of the more unexposed horses in this race and the trip should prove ideal here. He is drawn in the centre of the track which will give Marquand a variety of options and should get a clear run.
The 1.15 race is the Queen Mary Stakes for fillies over the 5f distance. It is a hot renewal of the race and MORE BEAUTIFUL 13/8 will take the world of beating. More Beautiful has a wonderful pedigree and she couldn’t have been more impressive first time out at Naas over this distance. Aiden O’Brien is sure to bring out more improvement and she will prove tough to beat here.
Haggas saddles Sacred who won well at Newmarket despite a huge drift first time out who will be a danger and the Wesley Ward filly Campanelle was impressive on her only start too. More Beautiful it is for me here though nevertheless.
The Coventry Stakes is up next over 6f for the Colts and Aiden O’Brien saddles the favourite again here with Admiral Nelson. Won well first time out at Curragh and O’Brien has a strong record in this race so he’ll do for many.
The one I like is DARK LION 12/1 EW for the red-hot Roger Varian team. Dark Lion was green on his only career start finishing behind Creative Force in 4th but he stuck on well and he would have learned a lot there. Improvement expected here and 11/1 is a cracking e/w bet.
The Coronation Stakes, a Group 1 race for the fillies is up next and 1000 Guineas third Quadrilateral heads the market at 11/4. She ran well there but I feel she will be even better when stepped up in trip.
The horse I like is ALPINE STAR 7/2 NAP for the Jessica Harrington team. She was a Group 2 winner as a 2-year-old and her half-sister Alpha Centauri won this in 2018. I think she’ll be suited by the ease in the ground here and Jessie has taken her time with her. Dettori takes the ride and I feel she’ll be tough to beat.
The 3.00 race is arguable the best race of the week and it is the St James Palace Stakes, Group 1 over the 1m distance. It is a rematch between Pinatubo and Wichita, the 2ns and 3rd in the 2000 Guineas and I think Wichita will confirm that form.
However, the horse for me is PALACE PIER 4/1. Palace Pier was really impressive last time out at Newcastle powering clear and I think he could be a real superstar in the 1m division moving forward. Dettori takes over from Havlin and I think he will improve past the front two in the market.
Threat is a good e/w bet at 10/1 after skipping the Guineas coming here fresh but I just prefer Palace Pier slightly on this occasion.
The 3.35 race is the Diamond Jubilee Stakes, yet another Group 1 race but this time for the sprinters. I was praying for no rain as many people in the group may be aware I am waiting on Khaadem for 5k to complete an ante-post trixie with Circus Maximus and Golden Horde but the ground is a major concern, unfortunately.
I can’t get away from SCEPTICAL 3/1 here for the forever improving Denis Hogan team. This horse continues to improve rapidly and was very impressive last time out. I don’t think this is the greatest renewal of the race and I think Dettori can strike here in what would be a great story for racing.
The 4.10 race is the very tricky Wokingham Stakes and Bielsa heads the market at 5/1 for the Kevin Ryan team. This race is wide open so small stakes advised.
I like JACKS POINT 18/1 who ran very well finishing 2nd in the opener here on Tuesday. He was leading for the majority of that race over 7f so 6f here on softer ground could prove ideal and is worth a punt at the price for the Dwyer/Muir team who have had a great week themselves.
Bet £5 to get £30 of bonuses
The 4.40 race is the finale of what has been an amazing week of racing. WHO DARES WINS 7/4 NB will prove tough to beat here. Alan King has been on fire this week and can complete a treble. Proven on soft ground and proven over the distance which can’t be said for many of those. The class horse in the field and he can win here.
