Cheltenham November Meeting Tips for Friday’s Card on ITV Racing
The November meeting at Cheltenham gets underway on Friday and Ant has picked his best four bets for a lucky 15 on the ITV Racing. The action gets underway at 1.50pm.
Tiger Roll makes his return to Cheltenham over the Cross Country course but he faces stiff competition from Easyland who is set to go off favourite for the race. Elsewhere, Ant’s NAP of the day comes in the 3.35pm race.

Cheltenham 1.50pm
The first selection of the day comes up in the Mucking Brilliant Paddy Power Handicap Chase which is a class 2 event ran over 1m 7f. This will prove to be a real test of speed around the Gloucestershire track and I’m taking the Venetia Williams trained French recruit Fanion D’estruval (9/2) to take this who was an impressive winner at Newbury last year beating Southfield Stone handsomely.
The selection was not disgraced in the Wayward Lad at Kempton last time out and is competing in calmer waters today. The five year old has been off the track now for 322 days but does go well fresh so we can hope for a bold showing off top weight here today.
Cheltenham 2.25pm
The SSS Alloys Supports Racing Welfare Novices Chase is another class 2 event this time ran over 2m 4f. The horse I like here is the Southfield Stone (2/1) who put in a cracking round of jumping at this venue last time out to beat a few useful sorts. The selection seems to be rejuvenated on the back of a wind op in the summer and I believe the Paul Nicholls trained charge will come on even further from his seasonal reappearance and will serve it up to the odds-on jolly here on the shape of Protektorat.
Protektorat was an impressive winner last time out going well clear of the field at Carlisle although it is hard to gauge the strength of the form of those in behind as they have not been seen on track since. I am taking in the in form Cobden and Nicholls partnership to land the spoils here.
3.00 Cheltenham
The next race is the one the eyes of the racing world will be on The Glenfarclas Cross Country Handicap Chase contested over 3m 6f. As advised within the Onthenod Podcast I am against the two-time Grand National Winner here in Tiger Roll who I think is being prepared to land the ultimate steeplechase in the world in April again for a remarkable third time.
My idea of the winner here is Easysland (8/11) yes it’s a pitiful price but I cannot ignore the absolute beatdown he gave Tiger Roll at the festival in March. It was a 17 length victory and there is nothing to suggest the Gordon Elliot trained 10 year old will be able to overturn that form.
My other play here is Potters Corner (10/1 E/W) NB who seems to be improving with age. The 10-year-old is a welsh national winner and will have no issues with today’s trip. The Christian Williams trained charge is getting over a stone from the two market principles and Jack Tudor takes over off another handy 5lbs which could prove to be a deciding factor in the places here.
3.35 Cheltenham
The final selection comes up in the Ballymore Novices Hurdle which is a grade 2 contested over 2m 5f. My Selection here is the progressive Does He Know (11/8) NAP who was a really impressive winner over course and distance last time out. I think race here in October was a stronger race than today’s and I cannot envisage the selection losing here. We can only assume the selection has shown no ill effects at home from his last outing as Kim Bailey did initially indicated the selection may not be seen until the new year. The five-year-old appears to be ground versatile and we know today’s trip will not be a problem so let’s hope for a comfortable victory for the favourite here.
