The 4:15 race is a pretty exciting one for 2-year-olds and O’Brien, Ger Lyons and Weld are well represented.
The one for me is WEMBLEY for the Aiden O’Brien team. This horse is beautifully bred out of Galileo and made a promising debut finishing third. Like all Aiden O’Brien Galileo 2-year-olds that improve significantly for their first run and I think this lad could be very good. He is the choice of Wayne Lordan who would have had the pick of the O’Brien runners.
The 4:45 race is a Group 2 contest over 1m6f known as the Curragh International Cup.
I expect TWILIGHT OF PAYMENT to follow up his win last time out here. He won well there and was entitled to improve for the run. The main target would have been this contest after winning it last year and the opposition shouldn’t worry connections.
The 5:45 from the Curragh is the Group 2 Minstrel Stakes over 7f.
I think LANCASTER HOUSE NB wins this easily. His comeback run was seriously impressive as he defeated Speak in Colours easily who has since gone on to bigger and better things. That race was over C+D and connections are making all the right noises than Lancaster House is expected to have a great campaign this season. Another win for Aiden.
The 6:15 at the Curragh is a sprint handicap over the 6f distance.
I like LAUGH A MINUTE here for the McGuiness team. He won easily last time out under a hands and heels rides and after watching that run I thought he’d be one to follow up next time. He has a mark of 102 now but he won so easily last time under an easy ride I think he’ll prove better than this current mark.
The 7:15 race is the Irish Oaks over 1m4f and it is wide open renewal as connections of Love have decided to go elsewhere.
The horse for me here is SNOW 11/2 NAP for the Aiden O’Brien team. This horse has been brought along slowly and steadily improving with every run. Typically, being a daughter of Galileo, she strides out well and will get this trip better than most. She won the Munster Oaks last time out and she is the value play here definitely.
