Curragh Horse Racing Tips – Four Selections for a Lucky 15 Bet on 2000 Guineas Evening
We have some cracking Friday night action live on ITV4 from the Curragh including the Irish 2000 Guineas, the Irish Lincolnshire handicap and plenty more for us to sit back and enjoy here.
Use these four predictions from the Curragh for a lucky 15 bet and if you are looking for some free bets then this Paddy Power welcome offer is perfect – bet £10 on the first race (4.50pm) and get a £5 free bet for every other race on the card. That’s a total of £35 in free bets.
The first of my selections comes in the ultra-competitive 5.40 contest which is a handicap for 3-year-olds over the 7f distance.
I like the Johnny Murtagh horse here SIAMESE 9/2. I was impressed with her second and final start as a 2-year-old as she powered clear staying on strongly to win well over this same distance. The fast pace will suit this filly and at 9/2 she looks a fair price to start this campaign as well as she finished her last one.
The 6.10 race is a Group 3 race over 1m2f. It is a race sponsored by Coolmore called Coolmore Ten Sovereigns Gallinule Stakes for 3-year-olds.
MYTHICAL 5/2 is the selection for the Coolmore team. I’m sure they’ll be eager to win the race they sponsor and Aiden O’Brien couldn’t have started the season in better form. Mythical showed useful form as a 2-year-old running 4 solid races in decent company and I’m sure improvement is expected to emerge after another winter on his back. There are a few unexposed sorts also in the line-up such as Crossfirehurricane and Gold Maze but they’ll all have to show significant improvement to improve past Mythical here who sets the standard.
The 6.40 race is the big one, the Group 1 Irish 2000 Guineas. 11 runners look set to go to post with Aiden O’Brien saddling six of the eleven runners. However, the market leader is the unbeaten colt Siskin who is trained by Ger Lyons. Siskin won all 4 of his starts as a 2-year-old, all over the 6f distance and connections are confident he will see out the 1m trip here. Siskin is currently 2/1 and I’m happy to be a layer rather than backer on this occasion.
Aiden O’Brien has the next 4 in the market and it is one of them that I quite like the look of. The horse for me is LOPE Y FERNANDEZ 7/1 NB who is the mount of Seamie Heffernan. This has to be a positive as I’m sure Seamie would have had first choice with Ryan Moore spending his time on the UK shores. Lope Y Fernandez was a big talking horse last season after winning first time out before coming second to Pinatubo at Royal Ascot. He was disappointing on his final start in the Middle Park Stakes but after a busy campaign that run can be forgiven. The horse is 2/2 at the Curragh and I am hoping Seamie sends the horse to the front and can set the fractions to perfection. He is a jockey brimming with confidence at the moment. There are obvious stamina concerns but with the likely fast ground I’m hopeful Lope Y Fernandez can see out this 1m well and 7/1 is good enough for me here.
The Irish Lincolnshire handicap comes next and it’s one of the toughest handicaps of the season to find a winner. However, I am very bullish PATRICK SARSFIELD NAP wins this race if he gets in. He is currently 2nd reserve so we need two horses to come out which is asking a lot but if it does get on. Patrick Sarsfield would be running off a mark of 86 and he is so much better than this in my eyes. I feel as though Joseph O’Brien has been saving his mark for a big one like this and here’s hoping he gets in. The horse has won over C+D and my fingers are crossed for 2 non-runners as this type of test is sure to suit.
Obviously, we need a plan B for this one and my plan B is INSIGNIA OF RANK 16/1 EW. Insignia of Rank will be suited by this test and the ground should hold no fears. The horse has won 2/6 races round the Curragh which is a healthy strike rate. Insignia of Rank has an ideal draw of 13 so will have a choice of where to sit throughout the race and there shouldn’t be any hard-luck stories. 16/1 is a fair e/w bet here.
