3.55 Doncaster
The 3.55 race at Doncaster is a 1m2f handicap. I really like HARROVIAN 15/8 NAP here for the unstoppable duo that is Frankie Dettori and John Gosden. Harrovian made a solid comeback run after a lay-off finishing second staying on well at Haydock. He will come on for that run there and the fast ground will certainly suit here. He seems a class above the opposition here and the price is fair in my eyes.
5.05 Doncaster
The 5.05 race is one for the stayers and the improving DUBIOUS AFFAIR 11/4 is the one for me here. The 1m6f distance was no issue for him last time out winning well seeing out the trip would no problem and this horse has a little bit of speed to boot which could be crucial on this fast ground. He is proven to love the ground being on the fast-side showing improvement and the latest 5lb rise may not be enough to stop him winning again here.
3.15 Newmarket
The 3.15 race at Newmarket is a Class 5 Novice Stakes race over the 7f distance.
I think Roger Charlton holds the key here with the unexposed Queen runner EVENING SORT 2/1. Evening Sort has shown plenty of ability in his two career starts improving from the first run over this course and distance. This course can be tricky for inexperienced horses so the fact he has shown he can run well at Newmarket is a huge plus in this type of race. Of course, there is a few others in the line-up that are obviously unexposed such as Ejtilaab but Evening Sort is receiving nearly a stone in weight off that one. Evening Sort will again improve for his second career start and I believe he will be more professional on this occasion than his rivals and win this.
4.50 Newmarket
The 4.50 race is a Class 4 handicap race over the 1m2f distance and I think the King Power running FOX VARDY 9/4 will take the world of beating here. The son of Frankel is sure to train on from the age of three to four and the ground won’t be an issue. Fox Vardy has been gelded since his last run which as we’ve soon a lot recently can bring out significant improvement. Trainer Martin Meade has been in good form of late and him and De Sousa can team up for a winner here.
7.45 Curragh
My final selection comes in the Apprentice Derby over in Ireland. A fascinating tricky contest and Willie Mullins saddles two runners here.
I am happy to take a chance on one of his horses and that one is SAYO 11/2 NB. Sayo has so much class proven by his third-place finish in the Truimph Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival but he is very inconsistent. Sayo has won earlier in his career after a break and hopefully the lockdown break will result in him being on a going day here. Sayo has previously won over this trip on the flat and he certainly interests me here as Willie Mullins won’t be sending his runners here for a day out.
