The first selection comes in the 1:10 race from Sandown and a horse I fancied strongly at Goodwood last week returns to action here.
The horse is PEROTTO NB (3/1) for the Tregoning team. He ran well finishing 2nd there, showing signs of greenness and being hampered at a crucial time. He was the best horse in the race for me and hopefully he will continue to improve with experience and this stiff 5f at Sandown will suit him very well.
The 3:30 from Sandown is the best race on the card in my opinion full of unexposed horses over the 1m1f. Enemy heads the market for the Gosden team and will prove popular for many.
The horse I like is NATIVE TRIBE (15/2). Native Tribe looked a horse full of potential last season. He was a well backed favourite for his handicap debut but ran keen and just didn’t look write. He has now been gelded upon his next start and with the Appleby team flying at the moment he is my value play in a good race.
The 4:05 at Sandown is a contest over 1m6f in which Revolver heads the market at 4/5 as he bids to win his 5th consecutive race.
I am happy to chance DANCING HARRY (15/2) again here at the prices. He ran a solid enough race when put up last time for the column and he has slipped further down the weights. I think improvement will come at some stage and today could be that day. The Charlton team continues to fire in the winners and the booking of William Buick is eye-catching.
The NH track that is Cartmel is the home for the next selection. Captain Bucks heads the market for Paul Nicholls and Harry Cobden. That horse won well last time and may well be capable of defying this 7lb raise but 11/10 isn’t for me.
The horse I am happy to chance is PASEO (8/1). This horse was full of promise last season as a juvenile and always looks like a chaser in the making. This is his chase debut so it won’t be easy but I’m sure it’ll have had plenty of recent schooling at Oliver Sherwoods. He gets a lot of weight of his rivals and he is worth a play at the prices.
The next is the 3:10 race which is a handicap chase over 3m1f. Stop the World heads the market but has always struggled to get his head in front.
The one for me is ACHILL ROAD BOY NAP (11/4). He returned to action over hurdle last time and made a solid comeback run finishing 2nd on that occasion. He needs reverts to chasing and with that hurdles run under his belt I think he’ll prove tough to beat today under these conditions.
