Horse Racing Betting for Friday – Henry’s Best 5 Bets
After another great day of selections yesterday including profit on the lucky 15 tip, Henry has picked out his best 4 bets for the Friday card at Newbury and one selection from Ayr. These pics include a 20/1 each-way bet.

The 1:20 contest from Newbury is a Novice Median Auction Stakes over the straight mile. Mirage Mac was impressive when winning on debut and this won of Bobbys Kitten sets a fair standard.
I prefer HAAJOOS 11/8 NAP here though for the John Gosden team. He has ran once too but only managed fourth on that occasion. He kept on that well that day and I feel he would have benefited an awful lot from that run. I’m expecting a big jolt in improvement today and I think he’ll win this. Gosden continues to have his horses in fine fettle and he has an impressive strike rate round Newbury.
My next tip from Newbury comes in the Nursery handicap over 7f. Rhythm and Genuflex are both highly respected for Richard Hannon as Hannon has won the last three renewals of this contest. Rhoscolyn returned to form last time out but I expect he’ll be vulnerable here.
The one for me is ONARAGGATIP 10/3. I was improved with this horse last time out as he kept on strongly winning well at Windsor. He now arrives here in great form and although I think he’ll need to come on again to win this I have no reason to doubt he can’t do just that. Rod Millman is having a great run of things at the moment and jockey Martin Harley is arguable riding the best he’s ever ridden. They team up here and I expect a bold show.
The 3:40 race is the most exciting race on the card for me. It’s a Class 2 Conditional Stakes race with plenty of unexposed exciting runners taken part. Baradar represents the powerful Roger Varian stable and won well on debut.
The one I like is MEGALLAN 10/3 NB who won on debut before finishing second on his next start keeping on well and only just being touched off. Gosden has been patient with him but he has entries for the Group 1 Dewhurst Stakes and also has a Derby entry. This shows his homework must be very strong and I’m happy Harley rides instead of Havlin. I expect him to improve here and take world of beating.
Another good race follows and it is a listed contest over 7f. D’bai heads the market for the Charlie Appleby and this consistent performer at this level will be expected to put up a bold bid.
However, I am happy to take a chance on JASH 20/1 EW here at a big price. JASH shown really strong form as a juvenile but has struggled with injuries since. He made a pleasing comeback run when fourth after a long spell on the sidelines before he disappointed when sixth behind the exciting Starman last time out. I think he will be a peak fitness and if he retains any of his ability today will be the day he shows it now he has two runs under his belt. The Crisford team haven’t sent many runners to Newbury but from the five they’ve sent three have gone on to win. At a big price JASH is worth a bet here.
For my final selection I will go up to Scotland for the 3:20 race at Ayr. A sprint race for the fillies over 5 and a half furlongs.
I like LAST EMPIRE 5/2 here. Last Empire was fourth in this contest last year but I fee like she’s improved this term which can be backed up by her fine second last time out in the Beverley Bullet behind an on-song Dakota Gold. A repeat of that run will see her go close here again her own sex and I’m happy to include here today.
