Randox Health Scurry Stakes – 2.05 Sandown

After winning his five previous races, Leodis Dream disappointed at York last time when trailing home last of nineteen runners, although he endured a difficult start to the contest and was eased when beaten. Connections will now hope for a return to winning ways but this Listed event will be a step upwards in grade.

Among the opponents of Leodis Dream, Street Parade won his only start this season when winning a 5f good to firm event at Windsor but has not really been campaigned in easier underfoot conditions. Of more interest could be Well Done Fox from the Richard Hannon yard.

The 3-year-old colt was last of seven runners behind Calyx in his only start this season but was only a couple of lengths behind the second placed horse in that 6f Group 3 event. He is a previous Listed winner and has reasonable form on an easier surface.

Selection: Well Done Fox to win (9/2 Ladbrokes).

Sky Bet Race To The Ebor Grand Cup Stakes – 3.00 York

For this 1m6f Listed contest, Sir Michael Stoute is expected to saddle Mekong with Ryan Moore riding. The 4-year-old has winning form on soft going last year with conditions at the Knavesmire expected to be testing. He also ran promisingly on his seasonable reappearance last month when finishing second behind Epsom Derby runner-up Dee Ex Bee over two miles at Sandown.

Austrian School was a close third that day but was a well-beaten ninth in the Chester Cup in soft ground prior to that race. The Mark Johnston horse is normally a reliable colt but who has won just once in fifteen starts.

Another horse to note is Chester Cup winner Making Miracles who was well beaten by Mekong in that race won by Dee Ex Bee, but soft ground could be in his favour.

Selection: Mekong to Win (5/4 Ladbrokes).

Randox Health Handicap – 3.15 Sandown

After racing for Andre Fabre in France during the first two seasons of his flat career, Baltic Baron now resides at the David O’Meara stable and claimed second prize in another Class 2 handicap at Nottingham in his opening contest for the yard last month. He has always been a consistent performer but may just lack that vital turn of foot at the end of races.

As with Baltic Baron, Thrave is another useful competitor but who may lack acceleration at the vital time while Sawwah won a decent race at Newmarket during the later stages of last season and was a close third in his seasonal reappearance at the same course last month. The 4-year-old colt may have benefited from that race, appears to handle any surface and has won two of four starts over this mile distance.

Selection: Sawwaah to Win (5/1 Ladbrokes).

Pavers Foundation Catherine Memorial Sprint Handicap – 3.35 York

It will be no easy task to win this Class 2 6f handicap on the Knavesmire but Dazzling Dan from the Pam Sly stable could be worth noting. The 3-year-old gelding has not finished outside the first two placings in the last five of his six outings culminating in a narrow victory at Newmarket last time. He has also won in soft going.

Opposition will include the lightly raced Victory Day who won a minor 6f event at Ripon last time and Rathbone from the Kevin Ryan stable with two victories from two starts this term. The latter horse has previously twice failed at Class 2 level.

Meanwhile, Moraawed meets Dazzling Dan on more favourable term than their last two contests, but is unproven in testing conditions.

Seelection: Dazzling Dan to Win (6/1 Ladbrokes).
