 Horse Racing Tips – 01/06/19

Princess Elizabeth Stakes – 2.35pm Epsom

Staged over an extended one-mile distance for fillies and mares, Awesome Tank could be a decent challenger for William Haggas in this Group 3 event. The 4-year-old won on her seasonal debut at Goodwood during early May and gives the impression of being an early season type after winning her only two races before mid-July last term. She failed to win any of three Group 3 contest later last term, but this represents a decent opportunity to claim such a prize.

Awesome Tank was beaten by Veracious at level weights in one of those group events last season but is now 3lb better at the weights for a 1+ lengths defeat, but the Michael Stoute trained filly can be unpredictable. She was a disappointing favourite in the Dahila Stakes at Newmarket during early May and won just that one race last season.

Another filly worth watching may be the Mark Johnston trained Nyaleti who has won at Group 3 level and who has been competing at a higher grade this season. There was no disgrace in being beaten nine lengths by Lah Ti Dar and she was perhaps an unlucky second in the Dahlia Stakes.

Selection – Nyaleti to Win @ 10/3

Investec Diomed Stakes – 3.10pm Epsom

For this Group 3 contest over one mile, the Michael Stoute trained Zaaki will be aiming to build upon his narrow success at Ascot during early May when he won a Listed event over a similar distance. He also won on his seasonal appearance last term but failed to win another 2018 race.

Of the other contenders, Bye Bye Hong Kong has won both starts this season in lower grade company but receives a significant weight-for-age allowance. He has already won against older horses this season while Mordin needs to step upwards from handicap company for this contest.

Selection – Bye Bye Hong Kong to Win @ 11/4

Investec ‘Dash’ Handicap – 3.45pm Epsom

Having already appeared three times during May, Tim Easterby will once again saddle Copper Knight for a race with the intention of claiming this 5f sprint. The 5-year-old gelding has been placed in all three events including a victory at York and then beaten last Saturday by Duke Of Firenze when carrying a top weight 9st 10lb. He is more favourably treated than the 10-year-old winner on that occasion.

Both horses face a threat from the Irish trained Hathiq who has won his last two contests and was an easy winner at the Curragh on his latest appearance when shouldering 9st 9lb.

Selection – Hathiq to Win @ 5/1

Doncaster Groundworks Handicap – 3.05pm Doncaster

An extended 1m6f is the distance for this Class 2 handicap and Summer Moon will hope to complete a three-timer this term after winning both of his previous races by four lengths or more. This race represents a step upwards in grade for this 3-year-old but he seems to be progressing and has yet to be really tested this season.

Emirates Empire could pose a threat from the Michael Bell yard but it is difficult to assess his all-weather form which is decent whereas Skymax was well beaten by Summer Moon last time but is much better treated at the weights.

Selection – Summer Moon to Win @ 13/8
