1:50 Goodwood
The opener on ITV is the 1:50 contest, the Prestige Stakes which is a Group 3 contest for the fillies over 7f.
A short but selective field head to the post and the one for me here is POMELO. Pomelo looked a serious tool first time out winning over at Newbury and this daughter of Dubawi will be expected to continue that improvement here. Beckett is very good at training fillies and  he seems excited by this one and you can’t blame him.
Happy Romance is the main market rival but I think she is better over shorter.
2:05 Newmarket
It’s HQ for the next on ITV and it’s a sprint listed contest over 6f. Summerghand heads the market as he bids to follow up his Stewards Cup win last time out.
I am happy to chance JASH here though for the Crisford team. This horse showed us some serious juvenile form last term and I expect he needed the comeback run after a long layoff. This will be his second run after wind surgery and he’s won over course and distance in the past. A return to somewhat like his juvenile form would see him go very close here.
2:25 Goodwood
The 2:25 contest is a Class 2 handicap over 7f and it looks competitive. Breath of Air currently heads the market for the Charlie Hills team and will do for many.
However, I like BATTERED for the Ralph Beckett team here. Battered sneaks into this handicap contest off 8’8 and Oisin Murphy is an eye catching jockey booking. Battered has ran solid races this season suggesting he is capable of winning off this current handicap mark. He is a previous course and distance winner and if he gets the splits at the right time here back at Goodwood I expect a bold display.
2:40 Windsor
We head to Windsor for the next and it is a Listed contest over 1m4f.
I like DESERT ENCOUNTER NB here. This horse has won at this meeting the last two years and I expect him to make it a hat-trick here. He had three of the his five rivals in behind him last time out and I don’t expect that form to be reversed here. The ground won’t be an issue and Spencer will nurse him into contention before hoping going past them in the final furlong.
Sextant could well be the main danger, a course and distance winner who will come on for his season opener last time out.
3:00 Goodwood
The 3:00 at Goodwood is a Group 3 contest over 1m6f. Again, it’s a small field with 4 runners going to post and I expect it to be a tactical affair.
I really like SUBJECTIVIST NAP here. I think this will prove to be his best trip and in what will be a tactical affair I expect this front runner to prove very tough to pass. Mark Johnston is very good round Goodwood and consistently bangs the winners in. Subjectivist’s half brother Sir Ron Priestly has previously won this race and I expect Subjectivist to follow in his footsteps.

3:15 Windsor
It’s back to Windsor again, a Group 3 contest over 1m2f.
I expect FOX CHAIRMAN to win this. Fox Chairman shown useful form last season and was open to more improvement this season as a 4-year-old. He’s yet to get his head in front this season but seems to be improving as the season progresses. This is his easiest assignment to date and the forecast soft ground will be right up his street.
King Ottokar could be the main threat if his Royal Ascot run took the freshness out of him.
3:35 Goodwood
The 3:35 at Goodwood is the feature on the card, a Group 2 contest over the 1m distance known as the Celebration Mile. Benbatl heads the market but his best form always tends to come on foreign soil.
The horse I like is CENTURY DREAM. Century Dream won well in a Group 3 contest at Newbury at the start of the season before a mediocre run in France last time out. He’s back on English soil here and he will relish the soft ground conditions. Century Dream has went close in Group 1 races on soft ground so he should prove up to this Group 2 class today. James Doyle takes the ride.
