Lucky 15 Betting Tips for Saturday’s ITV Racing from Newmarket and Ascot
A congested week of quality racing ends with cards at Newmarket and Ascot, and with the July Cup featuring as the highlight for our lucky 15 tips today.
The main contenders for that race plus two other important races from the Newmarket meeting are discussed in this preview while the Summer Mile from Ascot is also analysed. All four races are set to be televised on ITV.

Bet365 Superlative Stakes – 3.00 Newmarket
A Group 2 event staged over 7f for 2-year-olds, several of the challengers are unbeaten in their only previous start and Hudson River has been sent over from Ireland by Aidan O’Brien. He made all to win a Curragh maiden last month but there was nothing special about the victory.
He will be opposed by Seventh Kingdom from the John Gosden yard who won by four lengths on his racecourse debut. That race was just a four-runner event but he won despite a slow start.
Master Of The Seas was another winner of a small-runner field but was less convincing whereas King Zain was a good winner of a recent low-key Kempton maiden. It is also worth noting Devious Company who has won both of his starts at Haydock but workmanlike efforts in both cases.
Tip – Seventh Kingdom to win.

Betfred Summer Mile Stakes – 3.15 Ascot
A competitive field has been declared for this Group 2 event with Zaaki aiming to improve upon a third-placed effort on his seasonal debut last month. However, the Michael Stoute trained 5-year-old colt has yet to win at this level and may prefer a sound surface.
Marie’s Diamond is another horse yet to win a Group 2 race but he produced a promising effort when a close third in the Queen Anne stakes at Ascot. Mohaather was further back in that race but is a dual Group 3 winner.
Duke Of Hazzard also competed in that Ascot contest and was well-beaten, but he finished last term by winning his final three races including the Group 2 Celebration Mile at Goodwood. He may improve for that outing last month but would not appreciate testing conditions.
It would also be unwise to ignore 2019 Queen Anne winner Lord Glitters but he has failed to win in four subsequently outings whereas a lack of finishing pace seems to hinder Skardu.
Tip – Duke Of Hazzard to win.
Darley July Cup – 3.35 Newmarket
Two Royal Ascot winners have been declared for this 6f Group 1 contest with Golden Horde and Hello Youmzain both strongly fancied to follow those triumphs with another victory. The former colt won the Commonwealth Cup after racing creditably as a juvenile in top-class events, and he seems to act on most types of going.
A year older, Hello Youmzain narrowly claimed the Diamond Jubilee Stakes after finishing third in the Commonwealth Cup last term. He has won in both good and soft conditions and also earned first prize in Haydock’s Betfair Sprint Cup last season.
Beating both Sceptical and Khaadem in the ‘Jubilee’ suggests the order of finish in this contest might be the same, although only two lengths separated first and fourth. Irish trained Sceptical was third but had benefited from a previous outing whereas fourth-placed Khaadem probably raced too keenly.
Another horse to consider may be 2019 Gimcrack Stakes winner Threat who reverts back to that same 6f distance after his defeat in the St James’s Palace Stakes when it seemed he failed to stay the 1m trip.
Tip – Golden Horde to win.

Bet365 Bunbury Cup (Handicap) – 4.10 Newmarket
Selecting the winner for this Class 2 7f handicap will be no easy task but favouritism is likely to be disputed by Motakhayyal and Mutamaasik. They both raced in the Buckingham Palace Handicap at Ascot with the former gelding winning and beating the latter into third position by just over two lengths. The weights for this race favour Mutamaasik and he was second on his seasonal debut last term before winning four successive races.
Among the other contenders, Godhead has raced only on an artificial surface winning three of his four starts while Sir Busker has won his two races this term but may not be as effective at this distance than over his favoured mile. He led near the finish in a recent Ascot 1m contest.
Top-weight horse Vale Of Kent could also be involved after being campaigned in several decent races this term. A second position behind Safe Voyage in a Listed event at Epsom last Saturday was encouraging but he tends to be placed rather than winning.
Tip – Mutamaasik to win.
