Lucky 15 Tips for the ITV Racing on Saturday 25th July

York races betting tips

It is ‘King George’ day at Ascot but short odds-on favourite Enable is expected to face just three rivals from the Aidan O’Brien yard.

However, there is a decent support card at this Berkshire racecourse with the main contenders for a Listed event and two handicaps discussed in this lucky 15 tip. A competitive Group 2 race at York is also covered with all four races set to be televised on ITV.

There are no less than nine races on the ITV Racing card this Saturday, so you’ll need some free bets to spend and the 888Sport through the card offer is perfect.

Here’s what you need to do:

BetfredTV Pat Eddery Stakes – 1.50 Ascot

For this 7f Listed event restricted to 2-year-olds, Saint Lawrence will be stepping down in grade after a recent fourth finish in the Group 2 Superlative Stakes at Newmarket. He had previously won a low-key contest at Redcar.

He will be opposed by Coventry Stakes third-placed horse Saeiqa who has twice raced as though he will appreciate this extra furlong while Twaasol will attempt to extend a two-race unbeaten sequence after winning the Woodcote Stakes at Epsom.

Both Cobh and Chindit are also unbeaten after one race but they were winners of minor events whereas Naval Crown showed much promise when third in a recent Newmarket 7f affair.

Tip: Twaasol to win.

Moet & Chandon International Stakes (Handicap) – 2.25 Ascot

A few seasoned handicappers feature in this Class 2 7f event with 5-year-old Blue Mist expected to be prominent. He has not won a race since October 2018 but Ryan Moore has been booked to ride by trainer Roger Charlton and his disappointing effort in the Wokingham Stakes should be ignored. Six furlongs was unsuitable that day.

This seven furlongs trip may not be ideal for Ebury who has been campaigned mainly over one mile with varying degrees of success whereas Mutamaasik is a 7f specialist but his latest poor performance when starting favourite at Newmarket was a massive setback.

In contrast, bottom-weight Eshaasy won his last race when narrowly scoring at a slightly lower level in a Sandown contest. It may just be that he prefers 7f after a few below-par outings over further while Gin Palace will be seeking a three-timer but is dropping down to this distance.

Tip – Eshaasy to win.

9/2 - Sterling to score first (was 7/2)

Sky Bet York Stakes – 2.40 York

Staged over an extended 1m2f, this Group 2 race has attracted Elarqam from the Mark Johnston yard. He proved to be a non-stayer when competing in the Ascot Hardwicke Stakes but won this race last season when scoring by more than three lengths. The 5-year-old has competed at the highest level including a third finish in last season’s Juddmonte International.

Telecaster is another course and distance winner following his 2019 Dante success, and he returned to form with a recent success over this distance at Longchamp.

Aspetar might also be a danger but he has yet to win a Group race in the UK while King Of Comedy is another horse seeking a victory in Group company. Yet, he only just failed to win the 2019 St James’s Palace Stakes when beaten a neck by Circus Maximus. A close fourth is the Juddmonte last term is also worth noting but he may be a better miler than at this distance.

Tip – Elarqam to win.

Betfred ‘Nifty Fifty’ Handicap – 3.00 Ascot

William Haggas is proving to be one of the current in-form trainers and he saddles Johan for this 1m Class 2 handicap. The 3-year-old colt followed a decent juvenile campaign by scoring narrowly at Newbury last time and should improve for that effort.

Among his opponents will be Tsar from the John Gosden stable who recently won a Class 3 event at Yarmouth after a useful second place on his seasonal reappearance during mid-June at Newbury.

Dance Fever could be another contender after he followed a three-race unbeaten sequence as a 2-year-old with a promising effort at Windsor later last month. He was beaten into a close fourth place by a decent horse that day.

Previous Class 2 handicap winner Tell Me All may also be involved at the finish as he meets Dance Fever on fairly similar terms having finished second in that Windsor race. Furthermore, there could be a case for Evening Sun but he is stepping markedly upwards in grade after an opening Newmarket victory.

Tip – Johan to win.
