Lucky 15 Tips for this Saturday’s ITV Racing

ITV racing schedule

The Shergar Cup at Ascot has been cancelled for this season but a race in his honour is still included for the Saturday afternoon meeting. That contest plus another handicap from the Berkshire course is included in this preview alongside a Listed affair from Haydock and a Group 3 2-year-old event from Newmarket. All four races will be featured on ITV racing.

As always, you will need a free bet to use on these tips and at the moment, SBK are giving their new customers £20 RISK FREE when you sign-up.

Duty Free Shergar Cup Celebration Handicap – 2.25 Ascot

Having won a Class 3 handicap at York last time, Jalaad will hope to progress by winning this 1m Class 2 affair although he has never before raced at this level. However, he has improved with each race this season.

There will be several competent opponents which include Game Player who will be making his seasonal reappearance after racing in Class 2 company during this final three contests of last term. He may have been much closer than ninth but for being hampered on the rails during Goodwood’s 2019 Unibet Golden Mile handicap.

Another horse to consider is Northern trained and bottom weight Wild Hope who won a Class 4 event at Doncaster recently but he has a tendency to produce the odd poor performance.

Shelir and Cap Francais are also likely to be involved but both horses can be inconsistent with the latter probably inconvenienced by the soft ground at Haydock in his previous race.

Betvictor Rose Of Lancaster Stakes – 2.40 Haydock

After winning a 1m2f Listed event at Newbury on his latest outing, Global Giant deserves the opportunity to contest this Group 3 race over the same distance. Although he has failed to score in five previous attempts at this level, he may have improved in his three races for new trainer John Gosden.

Among his opponents will be Zaaki who was a dual Group 3 winner last season and who may appreciate this return to 1m2f after recently campaigning over eight furlongs.

There is also Extra Elusive who was beaten by Global Giant at Newbury and has not won since August 2018. Reversing placings will not be easy while Fox Tal was a decent horse in just two races last season but has yet to settle in two performances this term.

Betway Sweet Solera Stakes – 3.20 Newmarket

Staged over 7f for 2-year-old fillies, this Group 3 contest could be an opportunity for Fly Miss Helen to build upon a successful racecourse debut when comfortably winning a Newbury maiden. In opposition will be the Godolphin filly Danilova who improved from her second-placed debut by winning over course and distance last time. She was never really troubled that day.

Spirit Of Bermuda will be another contender after narrowly winning her only start at Goodwood later last month. She led near the finish of that race and will have learned much from the outing.

Both Dubai Fountain and Setarhe cannot be ignored. The former filly won her first two races before being outpaced at the finish of a Sandown race but still claimed second position. The latter was a narrow third on that occasion and there is not much too chose between the two fillies with Setarhe running well when second in the Albany Stakes behind a very decent juvenile.

Thames Hospice Handicap – 3.35 Ascot

This Class 2 handicap raced over 1m4f has attracted Look Closely who was a decent winner of an Ascot handicap last time. His rating has been raised and this contest is tougher, but he may have more to offer. He won a lower grade Leicester event by six lengths at the end of last season.

The lightly-weighed Omnivega could be a threat to the above horse after winning all three starts this year. He has yet to win by more than two lengths but tends to held for a late run.

Further opposition will be provided by Spanish Archer who narrowly won a Class 2 handicap at Ripon last time whereas Caradoc won the Dubai Duty Free Handicap at Newbury later last season but has yet to really fire this term.

Take note also of Jeremiah who won by the narrowest possible margin in an Ascot Class 2 handicap last month but the first and second horses finished five lengths clear of the remainder.
