Saturday’s Horse Racing Tips – ITV Racing Tips from Cheltenham, Doncaster and Newbury
ITV Racing returns on Saturday afternoon with races from Cheltenham, Doncaster and Kempton. There are a total of 9 races on the card and you can also listen to a preview of each race on the OntheNod Podcast featuring Ant and Henry.
You can listen to the podcast below, where there were some big priced results yesterday including 9/1 and 15/2 winners and a 28/1 each-way NAP placed in second.
Saturday’s ITV Racing Tips
2:05 Cheltenham
Isn’t it great to have Cheltenham back, after a fine days racing yesterday we go again and we open up with an intriguing 2m novice contest. Allmankind opens up as favourite and he had a great juvenile year last season remaining unbeaten until finishing third in the Truimph Hurdle.
I prefer BOTOX HAS (4/1) here at the prices. I don’t think there is much between my selection and the favourite here and last season only 2l separated the pair when they ran against one and other. Botox Has since won by 5l in a taken manor here at Cheltenham and I think this horse can progress again this season. At the prices I think he’s the bet today.
2:40 Cheltenham
The next race is a novice chase over 2m4f. Only 4 runners go to post and you wouldn’t be surprised if any of the four runners won this one. Pileon is interesting here but Phillip Hobbs’ recent form is a concern for me.
The one I landed on was NOT THAT FUISSE (11/4). The Skelton team are coming to the boil in recent weeks and this horse impressed me when winning well on his seasonable debut. He travelled well that day and jumped well and I think he’ll be held up here and ease his way into the contest under Dan Skelton. I think he stays this trip better than Southfield Stone and hopefully he’ll fly up the Cheltenham hill.
3:15 Cheltenham
The 3:15 race is a Pertemps handicap hurdle race over 3m. It is a wide-open contest and market moves will likely prove to be significant come Saturday morning.
The one I like is NEVILLES CROSS (6/1) for the shrewd Tom Lacey team. He runs off a nice racing weight of 10’4 here and he’s won his last two starts well. It is an eye-catching jockey booking in Robbie Power and I think this horse can continue his progression and go close here.
3:50 Cheltenham
The 3:50 is next up a handicap chase over 3m1f. Frodon heads the market and deservedly carries top weight here. It’ll be interesting to see if Frodon can return to the form of 2 seasons ago here after a poor display last season all in all.
The one I like is MANOFTHEMOUNTAIN (9/2) for the Emma Lavelle team. This horse has won 4 of his last 5 starts and it could have been 5 but for unseating his rider on his only defeat. He sneaks in at the bottom of the handicap and only carries 10’0 here. If his jumping holds up I think he will take the world of beating.

1:45 Doncaster
The 1:45 race is the Doncaster Stakes, a listed race over 6f for 2-year-olds. I’m keen to take on the favourite Lipizzaner here.
I like ZAMAANI (5/2) for the duo of Simon and Ed Crisford. This horse ran well at Redcar on his latest start when well supported. He finished second there behind Lullaby Moon and the front two pull clear. I think he has a solid chance here on ground that will suit.
2:20 Doncaster
The 2:20 race is a sprint handicap over 5f. It is wide open on paper and it’s hard to know where these sprinters are out at this time of year.
Not my strongest fancy of the day but if I had to pick one it would be MIGHTY SPIRIT (4/1). This horse was second in a decent race at York last time and gets to run here off the same mark. A repeat effort would see Mighty Spirit go close.
2:55 Doncaster
Group 1 action on the flat comes from Doncaster and it a 1m contest for the 2-year-olds.
I really like WEMBLEY (7/4) NAP here and I think connections must do too as it is Aiden O’Brien’s only runner in the contest despite having a few in at the 5 day stage. Wembley should have arguably won his last two starts, both Group 1s as Lordan left it too late in the National Stakes before I think only the draw cost Wembley in the Dewhurst. He is improving with every run and I think he is a good thing today.
3:35 Newbury
The 3:35 at Newbury is a Group 3 contest over 7f.
The favourite LANEQASH (6/5) takes the world of beating for me here. He won first time out before finishing second beaten only a head by New Mandate. New Mandate has since won a Group 2 contest and back in third that day was One Ruler who has since won a Group 3. The form is in the book and I’ll be surprised if this one gets beat here.
4:10 Newbury
The 4:10 race is up next and this is a Group 3 contest over 1m4f. It’ll take a strong stayer to win this one on the likely heavy ground horses will experience at Newbury.
The one for me is EUCHEN GLEN (10/3) NB. Euchen Glen has had a fantastic season which has included winning a competitive handicap at Haydock before finishing only 4l behind Champion Stakes winner Addeyyb next time out. He has since won a 4 runner race at York beating Desert Encounter who is a solid yardstick. I think he is a good bet here.
