13.50 Goodwood

The opening race on ITV this Sunday is the Ladbrokes Best Odds Guaranteed Fillies’ Handicap over 1m 3f 218y. A field of 5 runners go to post and I am going with the current betting market favourite ICE SPRITE  for trainer William Haggas and jockey Tom Marquand. This promising 3-year-old who is looking to complete a hat trick with Marquand onboard has looked better and better in each of runs after landing wins at Newmarket and Windsor recently. She has run and won on soft ground and is a type to improve again and I feel she can complete the hat trick. She has a 6lb rise in the weights but I feel she can navigate past this. Urban Artist makes her handicap debut on only her third start and she will be looking to improve again after taking an 11 runner novice at Windsor last month. Last year’s winner of this contest Alemaga won this race when making her handicap debut and will be looking to bounce back after a couple of below-par runs. She is hooded for the first time.

14.05 Perth

We are away to ‘Sunny’ Scotland now for the Bet365 Novices’ Handicap Chase (GBB Race) and I am going for an EW bet here and my selection is SIANNES STAR for Brian Ellison and Champion Jockey Brian Hughes. A horse who was making good progress over hurdles who won here last season. He has had a couple of respectable results of late. He can become a chaser and with the booking of Hughes on board again is a big plus for me. He will be one to watch in the market. Global Tour was a 5-time winner over hurdles last year and won when last seen at Bangor last month. He is up 6lb but has a chance to improve again as Jockey May Kendrick claims 3lb. Scardura can improve also as he is a lightly raced 6-year-old over hurdles who has been made to be a chaser and looked in good nick when second at Stratford 53 days ago. Lucky Flight will look to impress for trainer Lucinda Russell and will look to progress as a potential chaser. Jockey Stephen Mulqueen claims 3lb. Guardia Top quickly developed in a decent hurdler last year when winning 3 times. Looked better than what his results was when last seen at Market Rasen a fortnight ago. He will look to go well again and is wearing a tongue tie.

14.25 Goodwood

The 14.25 Ladbrokes Giving Extra Places Every Day Handicap over 6f at Goodwood has a field of ten runners and I am going for Mick Channon progressive 4-year-old CHAIRMANOFTHEBOARD. He won here over C&D on his debut and found his form as a sprinter this term winning twice this year. He run a blinder when 5th in the Steward’s Cup back here last month. He goes of the same mark here and can be the leading player in this race. This is an easier race than that. Atalanta’s Boy has won a couple of C&D handicaps here last year and has had some positive results this season. Connections will be hoping to put his run in the Steward’s Cup behind him when he blew the start and ended up 25th of 27. Alaadel is looking to improve after finishing 6th of 10 at Chester 10 days ago. It is a quick turn out and Champion Jockey Oisin Murphy takes on the mount from Jason Hart. Typhoon Ten has place claims and goes off the same mark and when last seen at Ripon 14 days ago, he was held up and with Sean Levey on board, he will be hoping to get a clear run in this time. Brian The Snail is another who will look to have claims. He ran a blinder in the Stewards Cup here but will need to be on that level again to improve after a couple of average runs of late. The ground is probably not ideal for him.

14.40 Perth

We are back at Perth for the Bet365 Handicap Hurdle (GBB Race) over 2m 4f 35y and my selection is a horse who has been in red hot form of late since switching back to hurdling. My pick for this is IMPERIAL ELYSIAN for the in-form stable of Fergal O’Brien and Jockey Paddy Brennan. Who is looking for a 4th win in a row after completing a hat trick when last seen at Southwell last month. He has gone up 11lb for them successes but I feel we haven’t seen the end of this form and I feel he can win again. Native Fighter is stepping down in trip and with jockey Charlotte Jones claiming 7lb I feel he should be respected for this trip after it looked like 2m6f was maybe out of his scope. The danger for me is a horse stepping up in trip,  Dear Sire took advantage of a reduced mark when winning at Bangor back in July. He followed this up with a 3rd at Uttoxeter and can have claims here. Newtown Boy will be looking to continue the success for Keith Dalgleish who’s stable have been in good form of late and jockey Danny McMenamin Claims 3lb.

15.00 Goodwood

Next up we have the Ladbrokes Get Your Daily Odds Boost Handicap over 1m 1f 197y and I am going for a gamble here with the weather looking to play a factor for this contest. ITS GOOD TO LAUGH will look to take advantage of the ground and perform well again on the softer ground for the Clive Cox team. His only win came at Ffos Las and he has been unlucky in a few of his runs going against better opponents. His last run is best excused and he is one not to discount here. A run from stall 1 is another tick in the box for me. Al Madhar won in his first two starts and he will be looking to improve after a couple of below-par runs. Overwrite for Mark Johnston is another who will be looking to bounce back. But the two players on form are Fiji and Native Tribe. Connections for Fiji believe this trip is about right for him and he will look to be in the run-in. Native Tribe landed a win in a small field at Sandown 12 months ago and will be looking to bounce back after a couple of mixed results. He is wearing blinkers for the first time and he will look to improve again.

15.15 Perth

In the last race of the day at Perth on ITV in the bet365 Sam Morshead Perth Gold Cup Handicap Chase over 2m 7f 180y and I feel I am going for a EW selection. SOUPY SOUPS for Neil Mulholland and Jockey Robert Dunne. A previous C&D winner here when winning by 8L here last September. Brian Hughes was on board that day and he takes the mount of the current market favourite Imada. SOUPY SOUPS will be looking to find a little bit more on form but he was second in a listed event at Wincanton last November. He has claims here and I am taking a chance with him. Imada won on his 5th start over fences when winning at Bangor-On-Dee back in July. He is a previous course winner and can look to improve again for Nicky Richards. As You Like has been great for Jonjo O’Neill over the last couple of years and his son booked on board again can look to mount a challenge. He has gone up 4lb but can be a serious contender. The Young Master is the veteran in the race and is carrying top weight here, he has had a wind op but ran a good 3rd in the Summer Cup at Uttoxeter last month. Boys on Tour is at a career-high mark and has the stamina to see out this trip. Jockey Stephen Mulqueen claims 3lb to help his appeal. Amalif Doug is a regular here and has a good record for Keith Dalgleish. Jockey Danny McMenamin claims 3lb and drops an extra 2lb. More Bucks is down to a workable weight and has been fitted with cheekpieces and has claims for a place.

15.35 Goodwood

In the last race of the day on ITV at Goodwood the Group 3 Ladbrokes Supreme Stakes over 7f and my tip is the impressive HAPPY POWER who has been in decent form of late since the resumption of racing. He won over 7f at Sailsbury 3 weeks ago. He’s a type who will take to any ground and is one to consider here for Andrew Balding and Silvestre De Sousa. D’bai is a consistent type who won over 7f at Haydock back in July. He was not disgraced in the Lennox over C&D and he can be a leading player here. Snazzy Jazzy is a group 3 winner and will be looking to take advantage of draw 1 for Clive Cox and Adam Kirby. Escobar and Toro Strike are ones to watch in the market for David O’Meara and Richard Fahey. The former has form around here when third in the Lennox Over C&D.
