Today’s Sunday Horse Racing Tips for the NINE Races on ITV
ITV are showing 9 races today from Windsor, Newmarket and the Curragh with some cracking action on offer.
So if you are like me, grab a cuppa and sit back and relax with the ITV coverage with the programme starting at 14.00 with the first race starting at 14.25 at Windsor.
OFFER – Use the Unibet 15 to go offer and if you back a winner 15 minutes before the off, you get a free bet. For example, bet £20 on the 2.25pm winner 15 minutes before the off-time and if it wins, you get a £20 free bet. Use this offer on every ITV race today.
So with that race in mind The Bombardier Golden Beer Carnarvon Stakes(Listed Race) at 14.25. My pick is current market favourite REPARTEE who is trained by Kevin Ryan and Andrea Atzani is booked for the mount. The Invincible Sprint colt was last seen when a strong second of 20 at Doncaster in a minor event and was third in the Gimcrack at York last summer. With plenty of weight in hand, it could be an interesting campaign for the 3-year-old. The main rival to REPARTEE here is Dark Lady trained by Richard Hannon. Who has been off for 9 months and has had a breathing operation and has had mixed form so the time off may be a blessing, one to watch here.
Next we have the Betway Empress Fillies’ Stakes(Listed) at Newmarket in the 14.45.
Ahorse with time on it’s hands is TIME SCALE, who looks to be the main contender for this 6f contest. She made light work of the field at Chepstow 13 days ago when beating Ocean Star by 6L. A half-sister to Bletchley will find this slightly more demanding but she is a useful prospect and is one to watch here and with Oisin Murphy on the saddle, it’s more reason to keep tabs on. Undertake made a winning start at Lingfield at the start of the month and finished a strong 4th in the Albany at Ascot Last week. She will be looking to progress again and is one to note. Kadupul is also one to watch in the betting, but for me TIMESCALE is my tip here.
The next race at Windsor is over 1m 31y and my selection is DAVYDENKO who is a C&D winner here who was disappointing when last seen at Newmarket 21 days ago. He is a horse with low miles in the tank and will appear again. I think he has a good chance to be involved and is worth looking at in the market. Stormy Antarctic is one who will be looking to improve again after finishing 4th of 8 at Newbury over 8f 15 days ago. But this is a jump up in trip and with in-form Tom Marquand on board, he will be one to keep a lookout for.
Pogo is a horse on the up and with a strong run at Royal Ascot when 3rd of 23 11 days ago. He will be looking to keep his progression going in the right direction.
In a small field of 4 runners, my Newmarket tip is a C&D winner here and that horse is LEXINGTON DASH ridden by Thore Hammer Hansen and trained by Richard Hannon. His form has improved since a wind op and I feel he has more to offer here. His first success was 8 days ago and he can build on that.
Ascension will look to challenge as he is the current market favourite. He landed back to back wins on turf/AW last summer and was 3rd on his return to the track 15 days at Sandown. With a lower mark than his rivals he will look to be a leading contender.
Current market favourite is Surf Dancer is a lightly raced 3-year-old who was a good 4th of 8 in a handicap at Sandown 15 days ago but was hampered at a crucial stage of the race. He will be one to watch here. Dance Fever is 3 out of 3 and is making the step up in trip for the first time. He is a course winner but has more to find here.
Another horse who is going to be a future winner is the Sir Michael Stoute trained JEAN BAPTISTE who is a promising type, he was a very good third of 11 at Newcastle 26 days ago. He is returning up to this trip and there is more to come from him and I feel he is one to watch and he is my tip as connections will have found the winning formula here in my eyes.
In a field of 5 runners, DESERT ICON, trained by William Haggas and jockey James Doyle is the selection here. He was 4th in a handicap over C&D 21 days ago and is fitted with cheekpieces for the first time and is an interesting prospect off the same mark. His main danger will be Elwazir, who likes running fresh after time off but has to also prove that here with having 234 days off. But for me DESERT ICON is the one to beat. (NB)
MAKE A CHALLENGE had a good 2019 progressing nicely. She didn’t need to find much to win an 8 runner listed race at Naas beating Rapid Reaction by 2 1/2l. He has had three wins on this track and will like to be back here. Speak in colours was runner up in this race 12 months ago and is a 3 time C&D winner and will be the one to pardon the pun but make a challenge to the same named runner for Joseph O’Brien. Gustavus Weston at 20/1 currently with Coral is an E/W shout as he is a C&D winner here.
First in Line is first in the market betting at Newmarket for this race and John Gosden has developed this horse into a smart handicapper who made a good reappearance when back here over C&D 3 weeks ago. He still has more to show and with Frankie Dettori on board he has a chance to progress this horse further.
My tip to edge the race here for me is ALIGNAK who is lightly raced for a 4-year-old who has shown progression. Sir Michael Stoute thrives in improving lightly raced older horses and he wouldn’t be running ALIGNAK in this race if he didnt think it would mount a challenge as connections haven’t wasted time in stepping him up in class.
John Gosden has a second runner in the race El Misk who is a highly regarded colt. Who made improvement as a 3-year-old. So he will be one to be in the mix of things here with a record of 3 wins and 5 places in 7 runs and he has more to offer down the line.
MAGICAL (NAP) for Aiden O’ Brien is a classy operator who won 3 times at this level last year. She was last seen in October last year beating Addeybb at Royal Ascot. I feel she will pick up from that performance and kick on again here. Stablemate Fleeting has fitness on her side as she was last seen here 16 days ago when 2nd of 9. The more rain the better for her but she isn’t in the same league as MAGICAL. Cayenne Pepper will like the step up in trip and will fight with Fleeting for second spot.
