13:45 York
The opener on Day 2 is the Sky Bet Lowther Stakes, a fillies Group 2 contest over 6f.
I can’t look past SACRED NAP here. I think she is the NAP of the week to be honest. She won impressively first time out at Newmarket despite drifting and then put up an even better performance finishing second at Royal Ascot behind Campanelle in the Queen Mary. That race is working out extremely well and I like that William Haggas has gave him a few months break before coming here. Haggas targets this meeting strongly and I think this is his best juvenile. Step up to 6f won’t be an issue as long as the rain doesn’t get into the ground too much.
The next two in the market Santosha and Hala Hala Hala were first and second in the Princess Margaret but I don’t think that form is near Sacred’s level.
2:15 York
The next race is a Class 2 contest over 6f for the 2-year-olds and 22 go to post for this one.
I like DEVIOUS COMPANY here for the Tom Dascombe team. This horse comfortably has the best form on offer in this race winning his first two career starts before finishing second twice behind arguable the best 2-year-olds out their Master of the Seas and Battleground. This race is definitely weaker than them two races and on a track that suits front runners I expect to get his head back in front here.
Happy Romance won the Super Sprint very well last time out and has strong EW claims.
2:45 York
Next up is a handicap contest over 7f in which 20 runners line up. A race that will require a bit of luck and hopefully the selection is on the right side of the draw.
I like TOP RANK here for the James Tate team. I think this horse is a group horse in a handicap here and will take plenty of beating. He’s unbeaten in all four career starts winning decisively against well-established handicaps at Thirsk last time out. He’s been raised 12lb for that win but I still believe he’s better than this current mark.
Sir Busker has ran very well all year and was unlucky last time out at Goodwood. He is sure to run his race. Prompting is another horse improving but needs good ground I feel.

15:15 York
Next up is the feature on the day and it’s the Group 1 Darley Yorkshire Oaks and the market is headed by Oaks winner Love. She is 2/5 and that price is about right to be fair. She is the best 3-year-old we’ve seen this season I feel and she’s going to prove very tough to beat here.
Franconia is next in the market and she continues to improve with every run for the Gosden team.
However, I am happy to place ONE VOICE (BETTING WITHOUT LOVE) here. One Voice won a Group 3 at Leopardstown before getting no run at Curragh next time out. Returned to form finishing second to Fancy Blue at Goodwood and for me that’s the strongest piece of form on offer outside of Love. Good bet.
15:45 York
The 15:45 contest is an intriguing race full of unexposed fillies. Sea of Faith heads the market at the moment and she looked a useful filly out of Sea the Stars. The lay-off for 352 days is a slight concern for me.
I prefer the Haggas second string and that is LADY G. She is yet to get her head in front this season but continues to improve with every run this season. She finishes second at Newbury last time out behind Cabaletta and I thought he was unlucky not to win there. Hopefully she can go one better here and at the prices she’s a great e/w bet for me.
16:20 York
The 16:20 race is a Nursery Group 2 contest over 7f and it appears a very wide-open betting heat. Full of unexposed 2-year-olds I recommend punters keeping an eye on the market movers.
The one that catches my eye is MAYAAS for the Haggas team. This won of Dark Angel made a pleasing debut finishing 4th before improving again to finish 3rd in a strong maiden race at Ascot last time out. That was over 6f and he stayed on strongly which suggests the step up to 7f will bring out more improvement.
16:50 York
The finale at York on Day 2 is a fillies handicap over 7f.
The horse for me is DANCING VEGA NB. She was full of promise after an impressive debut victory back in 2018. She wasn’t great in 2019 but he has since returned to original trainer Ralph Beckett. First run back with Ralph she finished second over this course and distance and I’m sure she’ll come on for that. The forecast rain will improve her chances too.
Entrancing could run a big race for Richard Fahey if settling better and Lawahed appears to be very unexposed for the Haggas team and could be anything.
