Wolves will begin this Championship clash unbeaten in competitive action since late October, and they will face Swansea in an FA Cup replay next week. Only Millwall have prevented Wolves winning their last six league games on the road when sharing the points in a 2-2 draw at the Den last month. Barnsley host the Championship leaders on Saturday and they have failed to win at Oakwell since beating a poor Birmingham team 2-0 at the beginning of November with just one home goal netted during the intervening period. The Tykes have won just one subsequent match, and are facing a fourth defeat in six home contests.
Wolves to beat Barnsley – Betfred Odds 4/6.
Although Bradford can be an unpredictable team at times, they did win three of their five League One games during December and won 2-1 at Fleetwood earlier this month. The Bantams netted seven goals in winning two of their recent matches at Valley Parade and now host a Northampton outfit struggling for points on the road with four successive away defeats suffered. Despite the Cobblers producing more consistent recent form on home turf, they have conceded at least twice in each of those four away defeats with just two goals scored. A home win is predicted for our accumulator tips.
Bradford to beat Northampton – Betfred Odds 8/13.
Rochdale were eliminated from the EFL Trophy by Lincoln in midweek while they have also failed to taste victory in League One action since beating Peterborough 2-0 on home soil during late November. The Dale have also suffered five consecutive league defeats on their travels with at least two goals conceded per game, and they now visit a Gillingham outfit unbeaten in league action at the Priestfield Stadium since late October. The Gills tend to be draw specialists on home territory, but they could take advantage of the current away woes of Rochdale by winning this game.
Gillingham to beat Rochdale – Betfred Odds 17/10.
After performing with distinction during the second half of their 3-1 FA Cup defeat at Newcastle, Luton were beaten on penalties in midweek EFL Trophy action, but they can now focus on enhancing their automatic promotion ambitions in League Two. The Hatters were beaten 4-0 at improving Port Vale last month but that was a first league defeat since late October and they won 5-0 at Swindon prior to that loss. Chesterfield will be their hosts on Saturday, but they are winless in six league matches with just one point earned. After conceding four and five goals in two recent games, the Spireites face a difficult afternoon against free-scoring Luton, and an away win is likely.
Luton to beat Chesterfield – Betfred Odds 8/13.
Although Port Vale have narrowly lost their two away games this month via 1-0 scorelines, they were unbeaten in League Two action during December and won all three home games without conceding a goal including the 4-0 defeat of Luton. Vale now host a Yeovil team fresh from beating both Bradford and Forest Green Rovers 2-0 in FA Cup and EFL Trophy home action respectively, but the Glovers have incurred five league defeats on the road since the beginning of October and appear to be a more capable team playing at Huish Park. A return to winning ways is envisaged for Vale.
Port Vale to beat Yeovil – Betfred Odds 4/5.
