Betting Tips for this Weekend’s Scottish Football

With the SPL currently enjoying its winter break, its time once again to focus on the lower leagues in Scotland for entertainment and value for our weekend bets.

Queen of the South have been a breath of fresh air this term and had the league sewn up at christmas. Allan Johnston is proving himself to be an astute manager both in the transfer market and tactically on the pitch. Queen's have won 16 of their last 17 in the league and that trend will continue on Saturday. The outright price looks too skinny to back but given The Doonhammers have conceded in each of their last 4, the 9/5 on offer with Coral for Queen's to win NOT to nil is very attractive. Albion may be bottom of the league but they have still managed 7 goals in their last 4 home games which only adds weight to our shout.

Elsewhere, the Scottish First Division has been a minefield in recent weeks. Early pace setters Partick and Dunfermline have both been inconsistent recently and Morton have closed the gap to sit joint top with the Pars. Morton travel to Falkirk while Dunfermline host Airdrie. The Morton game isn't one to be betting on given Falkirk are just as inconsistent and the price on Dunfermline (4/15 Stan James) isn't worth backing. Instead the value comes at Almondvale where Livingston host Raith. Both teams play attacking football while neglecting their defensive duties. Both Teams to Score looks nailed on given Livvi have scored in 8 of their last 9 keeping no clean sheets in that time. Raith have scored 11 goals in their last 6 games, conceding 10. BTTS can be backed at 8/13 with Stan James but instead double it up with Both Teams to score in the Arbroath / Alloa game. Arbroath have conceded at least 1 in each of their last 13 while they have failed to find the net only once in that period, coming against SPL champions Celtic in the cup. Stan James are again best priced for the market and the double will pay out at 6/4.

Brechin have lost only once in their last 10 and are outstanding value at 5/6 draw no bet with Paddy Power away to the inconcistent East Fife.

The SPL returns next weekend but for the twitterati out there, feel free to follow me on Twitter for more tips and news.
