It has been a slow start to the campaign to date for Plymouth with no League One victories registered in three matches, although they did win at Bristol City in a Carabao Cup tie. The Pilgrims were not helped by being reduced to ten players during the second half of their weekend 1-0 loss at Coventry and they will now seek to earn three points against a Wycombe outfit struggling to adapt to this higher level of football following promotion from League two last term. Wycombe have netted just once in earning a single point and face a difficult task in becoming only the second visiting team to win at Home Park this year. A home is predicted.
Although Port Vale beat Cambridge 3-0 on the opening day of the League Two campaign, they lost two subsequent games without scoring before claiming a seemingly fortunate 1-0 home victory against Crawley on Saturday. The visitors dominated for lengthy periods but could not find the net from sixteen shots on goal. Vale now travel to face a Carlisle outfit which returned to winning ways when beating Cheltenham 1-0 on Saturday. After conceding ten goals in their first three competitive outings, that weekend result was more reminiscent of the low-scoring matches featuring the Cumbrians during the final few months of last term. Another narrow win for Carlisle is the selection for our football tips today.
A determined defensive performance helped by a very late equaliser allowed Colchester to earn a 1-1 draw at previously free-scoring Mansfield on Saturday. The U’s remain unbeaten this season in League Two action with just that one goal conceded and they now host a Crewe outfit which has not really built upon a 6-0 opening day victory against struggling Morecambe. Two subsequent league matches without scoring including a 1-0 loss at Newport suggests that the Railwaymen may struggle to find the net against the home rearguard. A second home win of the season is the football prediction for Colchester.
We’ve got more action tonight and you can see our Championship predictions and betting tips.
Although Stevenage have won their last two League Two matches, they could only beat struggling Morecambe 1-0 at the weekend and previously needed two very late goals when winning 3-1 at Crawley. The Boro now travel to Nailsworth where hosts Forest Green will be seeking a first home win of the season. Rovers are unbeaten this term and should have collected three points at Bury on Saturday but for conceding a very late equaliser after being reduced to ten players, and they were also denied by the Oldham ‘keeper when drawing their previous home match. Forest Green could win this game.
A 1-1 weekend draw at Grimsby ended Lincoln’s winning start to the campaign after they had netted nine goals and conceded just once in three previous games. The Imps now host a Bury outfit which has scored very late goals in claiming four points from three previous League Two encounters. During those two league outings in which they avoided defeat, the Shakers benefited from the dismissals of opposition players and if the Lincoln team can avoid any red cards, they should win this match to complete tonight’s football accumulator tip.
