The Champions League final 2013 is the feature of Saturday’s football when Borussia Dortmund play Bayern Munich and we are taking a look at the Man of the Match market.
Not many bookmakers offer regular markets on this type of bet so we recommend opening a new Bet Victor account, who offer man of the match betting on almost all live TV matches.

The Man of the Match betting market is relatively new in football betting, but it is certainly one that can be capitalised on with some enticing odds to tempt you in. The secret seems to be to pick players from the team you think will win, and look at players who generally have the most influence in their position, or who score goals.
For the Champions League final we first need to decide the likeliest winner, and in our opinion that is Bayern Munich. Therefore their front men, or the Borussia Dortmund backline and goalkeeper have the best chance of landing the Man of the Match award.
If Bayern dominate Dortmund but fail to win, then Roman Weidenfeller (16/1 with Bet Victor) or Mats Hummels (25/1 with Bet Victor) are in with a shout of picking up the award.
Looking at the Bayern Munich front line, there are four potential man of the match winners in Robben, Ribery, Muller and Mandzukic. Alaba and Lahm cannot be discounted because much of Bayern’s play comes down the flanks and the full-backs are always forward. The inspiration for a Bayern Munich will probably come from one of these players and given the influence Thomas Muller has already had this season for Bayern Munich, he is justifiably favourite at 8/1 with Bet365.
Muller is a fair shout but he often fails to finish the 90 minutes and makes way, opening the door for one of the Bayern Munich wingers (or full backs) to take the crown. The two we are most interested in are Arjen Robben (9/1 with Bet Victor) and Philip Lahm (33/1 with Coral).
Robben has been a different player to the stroppy sulker we seen when he was at Chelsea and Real Madrid and following the injury of Kroos, he has arguably been Bayern’s best player for the last three months. His goals in either leg against Barcelona got Bayern into a comfortable position and his direct threat will likely see him go close as the match winner.
The second selection is the Bayeen Munich captain Phillip Lahm. The German international is arguably the best full-back in the world and if he keeps Marco Reus quiet, as well as providing an attacking threat going forward, he has a realistic chance of picking up the man of the match gong, and certainly shouldn’t be discounted at a whopping 33/1 with Coral.
