Newcastle resume Premier League action on Sunday after a fine away win in the Europa League Thursday evening. Alan Pardew’s side have began to turn the corner after a string of poor results sees them languishing in 16th place in the table.
They played well last weekend at White Hart Lane, but came undone by yet another virtuoso performance from Gareth Bale.
Before that they recorded vital wins over Chelsea and Aston Villa, thanks to the recent French invasion to LeToon. The spring seems to be back in Newcastle’s step, and I feel they will continue their recent good form when they take on Southampton at the Sports Direct Arena.
Southampton earned a precious 3 points with victory over Man City last weekend at St. Mary’s. New coach Mauricio Pochettino has enojoyed an encouraging start to his career with the Saints, but has a fight on his hands to secure his side’s status in the Premier League.
A score/win double bet on Newcastle to win with Papiss Cisse anytime scorer is available @ 3/1 with Paddy Power, and appears good value considering the Senegalese striker has found his goal-scoring form again.
Our final bet worth consideration is for Yoan Gouffran to score at anytime, which is overpriced @ 11/4 with Coral, as it’s mostly priced elsewhere @ 2/1. The French striker found the net in his last game away to Tottenham, and will look to add to that against Southampton who have conceded 30 league goals on their travels this season, the second worst in the division.
