Croatia vs Wales Predictions and Betting Tips: Euro 2020 Qualifier

Croatia betting tips

Croatia vs Wales go head to head in a Euro 2020 qualifier on Saturday 8th June at Stadion Gradski in Osijek. This looks a tough assignment for Ryan Giggs’ men, but they will be buoyed by the fact that Croatia have been far from convincing in their previous two qualifiers.

Wales are off the mark in their campaign, and will be aiming to make it two from two. You can see our betting tips and predictions below.

Odds:

Croatia to win – 3/5

Draw – 13/5

Wales to win – 21/4

Croatia vs Wales Preview

Kick Off Time: 14:00pm

Date: Saturday 8th June 2019

Competition: Euro 2020 Qualifiers

Venue: Stadion Gradski (Osijek)

Although Croatia begin this game as the favourites, and will be included in many accumulators this weekend, it’s hard to be convinced by their recent form. Since reaching the final of the 2018 World Cup, they have lost to England in the Nations League, and more recently were defeated in Budapest. They already got points on the board, courtesy of a narrow 2-1 victory over Azerbaijan, although they fell behind in that contest, and were far from convincing for large swathes of that encounter. Wales also sit on three points having edged past Slovakia, although their away form is patchy, they did beat ROI in Dublin, and will fight throughout this tie. Ivan Rakitic and Nikola Kalinic won’t feature for the hosts, and their defence is far from secure. Wales will feel like they can get something from this tie, and a point-a-piece seems a likely outcome.

Croatia Team News

The future of Ivan Rakitic has been the source of much speculation this summer, but he won’t feature in this game. Team-mate Nikola Kalinic will not play in Osijek either whilst Ante Rebic has failed to sufficiently recover from the injury which kept him out of the Eintracht Frankfurt side during the closing stages of the domestic season.

Zlatko Dalic will have to shuffle his pack, although Mateo Kovacic and Luka Modric are pretty much guaranteed starters.

Wales betting tips

Daniel James, who netted Wales’ winner in their previous game has joined up with the squad after missing the training camp due to personal circumstances. Ben Davies will feature in this clash, as his hernia op has been put back a week.

Gareth Bale appears to have fully shaken off any ill-effects of his recent injury, and will be one of the first names on the teamsheet, however Aaron Ramsey is not fit enough to feature for the Dragons.

Relative newcomer Joe Rodon will be hoping to get some minutes under his belt, whilst Kieffer Moore will be desperate to be involved following his first call-up to the squad.

Croatia vs Wales – Who is a good anytime goalscorer bet?

There are a number of Welsh players who could get onto the score-sheet in this game. Dan James is a tremendous talent, and if he’s not hampered by his lack of preparation, he could be a real danger. However, Wales fans will be delighted to see Gareth Bale return to the side, and he will be desperate to make an impact in this one.

He hasn’t scored since finding the net in Cardiff back in November, and he will likely put himself forward for any set-piece opportunities in this one.

He is usually a lot shorter in the betting, but with Wales being the away side in this clash, there is a little extra value in backing the Real Madrid man.

7/2 with Betfair seems like a decent enough price for the most talented player in the Welsh squad.

What is the Best Betting Tip for Croatia vs Wales?

It’s hard to separate these two sides, and the draw does seem like a probable outcome. Ryan Giggs will be desperate for his side to avoid defeat on the road, and continue their unbeaten run in this competition. Croatia aren’t at their imperious best, and are missing one or two key players for this clash. It is unlikely to be a low-scoring affair, due to Croatia’s questionable defence, so backing 2-3 Goals seems like a decent option.

Only one of Wales’ four Nations League games ended with four or more goals, whilst only two of their ten World Cup qualifiers went the same way, so it’s unlikely to be a high-scoring game.

2-3 Goals is priced at 20/21 with Bet Victor and is our NAP of the day for this Saturday afternoon game.
