Lincoln City vs Everton Match Preview

Lincoln have been excellent under the Cowleys, and they’ve made a very good start to life in League One. They lost at the weekend, making it back-to-back defeats in the third tier, but they are so strong at home, and they’ll have the intimidating and formidable Sincil Bank atmosphere on their side throughout this tie. Cowley has admitted that he has “no priorities” this season, although he will be playing a strong side in this one. They gave the Toffees an almighty scare in the FA Cup last season, but that was at Goodison Park, and with the home crowd behind them here, it could be a different story.

Everton suffered their first Premier League defeat of the campaign at the weekend as they went down 2-0 to Aston Villa. It was also the first time that Marco Silva’s men have conceded a goal, and they will be expected to make a number of changes for this tie. Andre Gomes is injured, and Jean-Phillipe Gbamin is on the sidelines for a sustained period of time. The likes of Tom Davis and Fabian Delph could come in for this game whilst Morgan Schneiderlin is back from a ban. Whilst Everton have run a tight ship at the back, they haven’t excelled at the other end of the field with just six shots on target in three matches, and the likes of Moises Kean need to start finding their shooting boots sooner rather than later. The Lincoln defence is a very effective unit, and won’t give their opponents much space.
