West Brom vs Aston Villa Betting Tips

The first leg of this Championship play-off was an absorbing contest with both sides dominating for large periods of the game, whilst there were a number of talking points and refereeing decisions to get the neutrals excited. Villa came out on top, but they certainly didn’t start well, and Dean Smith had to make a few tweaks at half-time.

The introduction of Connor Hourihane helped turn the tie, and Villa got the job done in three second half minutes.

West Brom’s decision to stick with James Shan after sacking Darren Moore will come under the spotlight if the Baggies fail to make it to Wembley, and they will have to do it without Dwight Gayle. The striker was the only player dismissed in a tetchy affair, and his ban has been extended to two games.

It makes WBA’s job even harder here, and Shan will be relying on the firepower of Jay Rodriguez on Tuesday night.

I’m yet to be convinced by West Brom this season, but they have scored 53 goals at home, and have won each of their last five at the Hawthornes. However, I think Dean Smith can out-think his opposite number here, and with the majority of Rodriguez’s goals coming from the penalty spot in recent weeks, the loss of Gayle will be keenly felt by the home side.

Smith showed that he isn’t afraid to shake things up, and even if he gets it wrong at the start, he doesn’t mind adapting, and that could prove key here.

Remarkably, five of the last six meetings at this ground have ended all square, but I think Villa can get their first win at the Hawthornes since 2008.

Villa to Win is the first of our Championship betting tips for Tuesday night, and they are 7/4 to win this one inside 90 minutes. Sporting Bet are offering 7/4, which is the standout price, and they are offering a free £15 bet to get started.

West Brom vs Aston Villa Goals Prediction

Many of the EFL play-off games so far have been low-scoring so far, but second legs are generally fairly open affairs, and as the hosts, WBA have to go for this. Villa have the ability to pick any side off at will, and they certainly have the talent to notch a couple more goals here.

Goals between this pair are commonplace, with three of the last five games at the Hawthornes ending with a 2-2 scoreline.

There were plenty of chances in the first leg, and even without the presence of prolific marksman Dwight Gayle, they should get on the scoresheet.

Seven of West Brom’s last nine games have ended with three or more goals, and another end-to-end contest is to be expected here.

Over 2.5 Goals is the second of our Championship betting tips for Tuesday night, and it is available at a decent 4/5 with 888Sport. They are offering a £30 free bet for anyone who signs up this week.

West Brom vs Aston Villa Anytime Goalscorer Betting Tip

We landed our anytime goalscorer prediction in the first leg with Tammy Abraham finding the net from the penalty spot. The on-loan Chelsea striker has been prolific this season once again, but he doesn’t score as often on the road.

Villa have shared the goals around on their recent away trips with John McGinn and Albert Adomah both finding the net in recent weeks. However, Jack Grealish is a decent price to score once again.

The midfielder has netted six times this season, with each of his last three strikes coming on the road. He scored at Bolton, Rotherham and Birmingham, and he isn’t afraid to have a go from distance.

With a number of possible goalscorers in the Villa side, Jack Grealish offers us some value at 4/1, and he isn’t afraid to pop up and score important goals.

Betfred have the standout price on this market, and they have a £30 free bet available for all new customers.
