Southampton vs. Sunderland, 3pm, Saturday 22nd December – 9/10

As we begin the busy Christmas period for the Premier League sides, both Southampton and Sunderland will head into this game fancying their chances which hopefully will lead to goals. Sunderland have conceded an average of nearly 2 goals per game on the road in their last 6, and though their strikeforce has eased off somewhat in recent times, the Saints still have the potential to be give the Sunderland defence a busy weekend. The visitors won’t go quietly though. Sessegnon seems to be finally finding his feet this season, whilst James McClean is showing the sort of form with which he forced his way into the Sunderland starting 11 last season. This tie isn’t the most obvious for goals, but I have a strong feeling it won’t disappoint.

West Brom vs. Norwich, 3pm, Saturday 22nd December – 17/20

After a strong start to the season, the stuttering of West Brom and the quiet consistency of Norwich will make this tie a close one, and will see more than 1 goal scored before either of these sides takes away 3 points. West Brom’s forward line has failed to realise its potential somewhat in recent weeks, however with their next 3 ties all particularly tricky (a resurgent QPR, a title chasing Manchester United and a Fulham side who are unpredictable this season) they will know they need to put some distance between themselves and 8th placed Norwich who are hot on their heels. Norwich will find the net though, they have looked good in front of goal of late, finding the net at least twice in their last 3 league matches, and this trend will probably continue against a West Brom defence which has allowed far too many opportunities against it of late.

Leicester vs. Cardiff, 3pm, Saturday 22nd December – 4/5

They may be top of the league, but Cardiff City will find it tough work against Leicester when they travel to the Foxes this weekend. Leicester have been clinical in front of goal at the King Power Stadium of late, putting 16 past the last 6 sides who have travelled there, but they will not find their opponents without answer, with Cardiff having found the net 13 times on the road in their last 6. Both these sides posses real quality, and both play high quality, attacking football, which will lead to goals. In order for either of these two sides to take 3 points from this tie more than 1 goal will be needed, with both looking set to score, and neither of these sides will be happy walking away from this tie with a draw, such has been their mentalities this season.
