Eight teams to battle for the European Under 21 Championship in Israel starting this week and here we take a look at Group B and the main contenders.

Group B is undoubtedly the tougher of the two groups, containing favourites and defending Champions Spain, Germany, Netherlands and Russia.

Only two teams can progress to the semi-final stages and the bookies make Spain the clear favourites to do so at at 2/7. Germany are 4/6 and the Netherlands 11/10. The outsiders of the party are Russia at 10/3.

In the ‘to win the group’ betting Spain are favourites at 5/4, Germany 12/5, Netherlands 7/2 and Russia 16/1.

Spain are understandable favourites for both Group B and the tournament as a whole after they demolished Denmark 8-1 in their play-off to qualify for the finals, on the back of going unbeaten in their group. There they won seven and drawn one, scoring 27 goals and conceding just twice.

Their main goal threat is Benfica forward Rodrigo, who scored 11 goals in qualification including four in one leg of the play-off against Denmark. He is also favourite to win the top goalscorer accolade.

Germany and Netherlands look set to do battle for the second semi-final place from Group B and it looks tough to split them. Netherlands have names a very experienced squad with 12 of their 23 having represented the senior team on at least one occasion. Germany continue to churn out fantastic young talents and won this tournament n 2009. After failing to qualify for 2011 they will be here with a point to prove. One stumbling block for the Germans could be the injuries picked up by players meaning they will miss out, and that could open the door the the Netherlands to sneak into the semi-finals.
