Bolton v Brentford predictions and football bet tips for tonight’s Championship fixture live on Sky Sports’ Monday Night Football.
There’s Championship action tonight from the Championship as struggling Bolton take on much improved Brentford and we’ve got a preview and three free football betting tips.
It’s not been the best of campaigns for Neil Lennon and Bolton so far, they’ve struggled to find the wins and put together any streak of meaningful results. The lack of goals is a huge concern and it must be addressed before it’s too late.
They’ve won just one match in 17 and it isn’t likely that Lennon can go and spend big in the transfer window in order to cure all his problems. Financial restrictions at the club will leave the former Celtic manager scratching around in the loan market for reinforcements.
They already have a contingent of strikers who don’t score enough goals with Emile Heskey and Shola Ameobi never finding themselves in the ‘natural goalscorer’ category whilst Stephen Dobbie and Gary Madine will bag a few, but not enough to keep this side up.
They face much improved Brentford here, who have been linked with a number of new managers over the past fortnight, but it looks likely that the reticent manager Lee Carsley will still be in charge. The former Birmingham man is adamant he will not be taking the job as he wishes to return to working with the youth squad, but he will still be in the dugout at the Macron.
Performances have definitely improved under his tutelage though and only a defeat by Hull have stopped them taking maximum points. They beat Forest last week and will look to kick on against a side who have scored just 11 goals in their 17 games.
Brentford have far more goals in them than their opponents, 12 more to be precise and they’ve scored 12 of their 23 strikes on the road.
Who will win between Bolton and Brentford? It seems a fairly obvious direction to go, but I can’t back against a side that have won five of their last seven games and lost just once. Although Bolton have lost just once at the Macron, Brentford have beaten Wolves and Charlton and held improving Blackburn to a draw away from home.
My first Bolton v Brentford prediction is for Brentford to win. The best odds for Brentford to beat Bolton tonight are 8/5 with 888Sport.

Over/Under 2.5 goals tip tonight – Five of Brentford’s last eight games have finished under 2.5 goals. Of the remaining three, two of them have been at home. Bolton don’t score enough and they’ve started to gradually improve defensively. They drew 0-0 here last time out to Bristol City and held Leeds to a 1-1 draw. This won’t be one to go down in the history of great televised matches nor will it live long in the memory, but one or two goals might be all we’re seeing this evening.
My second Bolton v Brentford betting tip is for Under 2.5 goals. It can be backed at 10/11 with William Hill.

I’ve backed him a few times this season to score the goals and he’s duly obliged. Alan Judge has improved under Lee Carsley. With no standout goalscorer, Brentford have found goals from all around the pitch, but the former Blackburn man’s left foot is a beauty. He takes free kicks and also have a knack of popping up in the right place at the right time.
My third Championship prediction for Bolton v Brentford tonight is for Alan Judge to score anytime. He can be backed at 5/1 with Stan James.
Brentford win – bet at 8/5 with 888Sport.
Under 2.5 goals – bet at 10/11 with William Hill.
Alan Judge Anytime Goalscorer – bet at 5/1 with Stan James.
