Both Teams to Score tips for this weekend’s Saturday afternoon matches including the reasons for each pick and which bookmaker to use on our BTTS tip this weekend.
Both Birmingham and Preston have featured among the goals recently and their clash has been selected for this BTTS four-fold accumulator alongside the fixture involving the normally free-scoring Norwich and improving visitors Rotherham. FA Cup matches at Lincoln and Maidstone are also covered with goals expected in both games.
Birmingham vs Preston
Norwich vs Rotherham
Lincoln vs Carlisle
Maidstone vs Oldham
Odds – 11.32/1 with William Hill.
Having netted in each of their Championship games during the last two months, Birmingham will be hoping to extend their decent goal scoring form into this game against a Preston team also finding the net with some regularity. The Lilywhites are unbeaten since the beginning of October with four goals scored in three of those games, but two clean sheets registered in three months is a concern. Meanwhile, in four games featuring hosts Birmingham during November, eighteen goals were scored and the Blues are yet to lose at St Andrews this term.
After scoring four times in each of their three previous Championship fixtures, it may have been surprising that in-form Norwich could only draw 0-0 at Hull on Tuesday evening. However, the Canaries squandered several goal scoring opportunities in failing to net for just the second time in three months. As for visitors Rotherham, both teams have scored in each of their last five league games with the Millers losing just once since late September. Rotherham also scored against decent opposition in all four matches during November.
Although Lincoln remain one of the automatic promotion favourites from League Two, they have generally struggled for form since beating Port Vale 6-2 during mid-October. Just one league win has been subsequently earned with at least one goal conceded per match. Visitors Carlisle may be confident of causing a surprise in this FA Cup tie especially as they claimed a 2-2 at Sincil Bank earlier in the campaign. The Cumbrians are better team on their travels than at Brunton Park having won four league matches on the road since early September.
The recent National League form of Maidstone could be described as fairly moderate especially having suffered 5-2 and 3-1 defeats in their last two matches. There were genuine excuses for the margin of that former loss while it could be argued that they are reserving their better performances for the FA Cup. The Stones have already beaten Leyton Orient and Macclesfield on home soil and now host League Two outfit Oldham with the visitors claiming two late goals to win their previous away tie at Hampton & Richmond. However, the Latics have netted in three subsequent unbeaten league games including a midweek score draw with Lincoln when reduced to ten players for the second half.
