Cheltenham Lucky 15 Tips for Day 1 – Four Each-way Bets on Tuesday

Cheltenham day 1 tips

A lucky 15 is always a popular bet on the Cheltenham Festival and with bigger odds selections, it could make for a huge payout if you can get some winners. Out Cheltenham day 1 lucky 15 tip picks our four each-way bets for Tuesday.

With many bookies paying enhanced places on races across the festival, it can often be worth having a look at the horses at bigger odds with a chance of hitting the frame for a small stakes bet.

Below is our Cheltenham lucky 15 tip of outsiders (or just a decent priced horse) with a squeak.

Surpeme Novices Hurdle (1.30pm) – Edwardstone

With 16 declared for the Supreme Novices Hurdle tips on day 1, you will get a massive SEVEN places for your each-way bets should they all make it without mishap between now and Tuesday. Though the market principals are clearly very strong it is unlikely that they will all run their race and a horse who seems to be forgotten about is Edwardstone. Having accounted for two very good horses in Fiddlerontheroof and Harry Senior early in the season he was robbed of gold by Stolen Silver late on last time out. Having raced keenly previously he will need to settle better but hopefully a bigger field and more cover will allow him to do just that.  At 20/1 he is definitely worth a go here.

Ultima Handicap Chase (2.50pm) – Kildisart

Although not an outsider, Kildisart looks set to go close in the Ultima. He is winless so far this term but his form at this time of year last season included a 4th to Defi De Seuil in the JLT. This was then followed by a nice win at Aintree. He has been dropped 1lb for his last run at Kempton where he stayed on to take 5th behind Mister Malarky. With a maximum field confirmed for the race additional place terms will be on offer, however, hopefully, he can do better than just place and record his first win of the season when it matters most.

Champion Hurdle (3.30pm) – Ballyandy

After her two decisive victories before the turn of the year, the betting for this season’s Champion Hurdle is rightly headed by Epatante. A horse who finished behind her in her last run is Ballyandy. Despite beating Pentland Hills earlier in the season, Nigel Twiston-Davies charge is a best price 20/1 whereas Pentland Hills is 2nd favourite at a 11/2. That seems a massive difference considering Pentland Hills has failed to see out his last two races whereas Ballyandy has consistently performed well after being dropped to two miles. His festival form reads 13 and although it will take some luck in running and a massive performance, at 20/1 he is definitely worth a punt.

Novice Handicap (4.50pm) – Hold The Note

A race that favours good recent form in graded races, there are a couple which fit the bill here. Again, several places will be on offer due to the number of runners. One which appeals is Hold The Note. He finished a good second to Two For Gold last time out over 3 miles so stamina will not be an issue for him. The form book reads PU for his run before that but that far from tells the full story. He was traveling sweetly that day before being hampered and although impossible to predict if he’d have gone on to win he would surely have gone close. At a best price at the time of writing of 8/1 he finishes off our big priced Lucky 15 which will hopefully get the week off to a flyer, or at least add to the coffers.
