Football Accumulator Tips for Sunday 7th August at 23/1
Our weekend of football accumulators continues with a Sunday offering at odds of 23/1 with Coral who have just launched an exciting new accumulator refund offer.
After the excitement of Saturday’s bumper fixture list, we’re looking forward to plenty of action on Sunday. There’s a variety of fixtures across a number of leagues and we bring you the best football betting tips for your Sunday accumulator.
Sunday’s Football Accumulator Tips
Sheffield Wednesday v Aston Villa – Sheffield Wednesday win
Wednesday look strong this season and I was among the pundits tipping them for promotion in my Championship promotion predictions. They have added Stephen Fletcher to the ranks and tied down Daniel Pudil and Almen Abdi. They were almost impossible to beat at Hillsborough, losing just twice in 23 games and they should be able to see of relegated Villa. Roberto Di Matteo will look to turn things around, but he will need to get off to a flyer. There was a losing mentality about the side last season and there have been a few decent additions including Ross McCormack, who should add plenty of goals. Roared on by a vociferous crowd, Sheffield Wednesday should be able to start their season with three points here.
Sparta Rotterdam v Ajax – Ajax win
A short priced selection for our second accumulator tip, but Ajax should get the job done against newly-promoted Sparta Rotterdam. They cruised to promotion last season in the Jupiler League and are rewarded with a tasty looking season opener. It’s their first season in the Eredivisie since 2009/10 and they’ll be looking to improve on a second bottom finish. Ajax snuck through their Champions League qualifier, but it wasn’t convincing and Peter Bosz will be looking for improvement. Sparta though haven’t strengthened enough to give them too many problems here. Their undoing was poor defending on Wednesday night and that is surely an area that Bosz will have focussed on.
AZ Alkmaar v Heerenveen – AZ win
Another match taken from the opening weekend of the Eredivisie. AZ look strong once again this season and the additions of Fred Friday and Wout Weghorst are very positive. They eased through their Europa League Qualifier on Thursday night and we’ll be hoping there’s no fatigue from that game. It was a stroll in the park though so they should be fairly fresh. Heerenveen will be fairly tough to break down, but they had their fair share of erratic moments in defence last season. AZ need to be patient, but John Van Den Brom has his side playing decent football and he’s been clear on his tactics. They should see it through.
FK Rostov v Ural – Rostov win
It was a season to remember last year for Rostov and they came ever so close to toppling the big team dominance in the Russian Premier League. Berdyev has stuck around although the transfers took a while to process. They had a morale boosting win in the Champions League Qualifier over Anderlecht which should give them confidence coming into this. They laboured to a 1-0 win last week, but they should be into their stride after three matches in eight days. Ural got a home win last week, but away from home, they are unreliable. They won just one of their last nine away trips last season and this is a big ask.
Portland Timbers v Sporting Kansas City – Portland Timbers win
The final selection on our Sunday football accumulator comes from the MLS and kicks off at 21:00 UK time. Portland Timbers have lost players in defence with Nat Borchers and Liam Ridgewell both suffering injuries. The former is out for the season, but the latter could return here. These two sides faced one another last weekend and SKC ran out 1-0 winners, but it wasn’t convincing. Timbers has their chances, but Adi couldn’t convert. SKC aren’t a good away side though and they lost their last three on the road. Since a poor start to the season, Timbers have won five of their last eight games at home. Two defeats to LA Galaxy and a draw with Montreal Impact have stopped them taking maximum points but I fancy them to make their home advantage count here. Expect Timber Joey to have the chainsaw on standby.
