This front runner will not mind the softening ground having won twice already on a slower surface. He’s in good form with two wins and a second from his last four outings and is tipped to beat Afandem who won at Carlisle last week.

This is a trappy contest on the Haydock card tonight but slight preference is for the current market leader Juan Elcano. The favourite here is on a five timer under a penalty and is respected, but we’re taking a chance on Mums Hope at 4/1. She was very progressive at 2 and has only been seen once this season so far, finishing fifth at Wolverhampton. Astrologer is another danger for the powerful David O’Meara yard.

9.00pm – DUBIOUS AFFAIR (4/1)

Jamie Spencer rides for Sir Michael Stoute in the final race on the Haydock card tonight and we’re hopeful the fillie will improve following her first appearance on a race track. Favourite Motivate Me has only been seen winning on fast ground and might struggle in conditions under a penalty and it remains to be seen whether High Above comes on from the run in an ordinary Newmarket event first time out.
