Over 2.5 Goals Tips this Weekend
Huddersfield v Burnley
Burnley uncharacteristically conceded twice to Fulham in midweek and although they are often defensively sound they might find a lively Huddersfield side hard to keep out. The Terriers put three past Reading here just a few days ago and they have plenty of goals in their side. They also cannot defend and with Sam Vokes and Andre Gray in fine goalscoring form, they’re bound to ship a couple which is perfect for our over 2.5 goals tip. Burnley’s last two away games have both featured three or more goals. The first of those was against Bolton, who score far fewer than Huddersfield. David Wagner’s side have scored 60% of their goals at home and have Harry Bunn, Nakhi Wells and Jamie Paterson all finding the net recently.
Cardiff v Ipswich
Cardiff failed to continue their free scoring run at home to Leeds in midweek in an unexpected 0-2 defeat here. They look to bounce back as they welcome Ipswich to South Wales. They have been scoring plenty of goals and hit two against Preston and four against Brighton in recent weeks. Lex Immers has made a difference since his arrival and Anthony Pilkington has done a decent job playing further forward. Cardiff fans still aren’t convinced about Slade’s tactics, but they still have an outside chance of the play-offs. Ipswich were disappointed to concede in the 97th minute against Bolton on Tuesday night after twice taking the lead. That defensive vulnerability only seems to kick in on the road as they also conceded twice to Bristol City and lost at QPR. They have plenty of goals in them too and this one should be a decent match.
Barnsley v Southend
Barnsley are on an incredible run of form. You’ve probably all seen the statistics showing their rise up the table and they are now serious contenders for a play-off place. They have been scoring plenty of goals recently and it looks like Sam Winnall could return for this one. Ashley Fletcher has been a tremendous loan signing from Manchester United and he has been firing them in recently. They’ve scored seven times in the last three games and I think they will find a way past poor travellers Southend. Phil Brown’s side have conceded in each of their last four away matches whilst Barnsley netted in their last six home games. Barnsley are the third highest scorers in the league netting 57 times in 35 League One games and I think they can add to that here.
Swindon v Millwall
Swindon appointed Luke Williams as their new permanent manager this week and they’ve certainly made a wise decision based on the form of the last few weeks. Swindon have improved significantly and Nicky Ajose has been in flying form. They’ve hit nine goals in their last four home matches, conceded six in the process. There have also been 15 goals in their last four matches in the league and they’re up against terrific travellers Millwall. The Lions hit three past lowly Blackpool last time out and have also recently scored three past Peterborough and Walsall. Lee Gregory is having a brilliant season and with him and Ajose on the same pitch, there are bound to be goals here.
Oxford v Leyton Orient
If Oxford fail to get promoted, it will be there home form that lets them down. But they put that right with a thumping 4-0 victory over York at the Kassam last time out. They are back in front of their own fans hosting Kevin Nolan’s Leyton Orient. Orient are unbeaten in their last four away matches, drawing 2-2 with Carlisle on their last trip. Oxford have so many goals in the side though with Danny Hylton, Jordan Bowery and Kemar Roofe all extremely dangerous. Michael Appleton’s side have been freescoring this season and the second highest scorers in the league scoring three fewer than leaders Northampton.
