Over 2.5 Goals Accumulator – 30/01/16
Huddersfield v Cardiff Tip
Over 2.5 Goals
Huddersfield have improved markedly under David Wagner and they are scoring plenty of goals. Two of their last three games have ended with over 2.5 goals and they’ve hit 22 of their 37 goals at the John Smith’s Stadium. They’ve scored 11 goals in their last four home matches and with Harry Bunn, Nahki Wells and Jamie Paterson amongst the many goal threats they possess, you can see why they have been scoring. Defending can still be an issue from time to time with 39 goals shipped this season. Cardiff have been hit or miss this season, but their last two matches have finished 3-1 and 2-2. Craig Noone scored some magnificent goals against Wolves to ease the pressure on his beleaguered manager. The Bluebirds have conceded in their last seven consecutive away matches and they’ll be unlikely to keep a clean sheet here.
Wigan v Port Vale Tip
Over 2.5 Goals
Wigan let us down last weekend’s over 2.5 accumulator tip by failing to score a second against Crewe. Yanic Wildschut signed permanently from Middlesbrough and he really should have put his new side ahead after he hit the post and missed from a couple of yards out. Wigan should get back to their goalscoring best here though and they have found the net with regularity here. There have been 24 goals in their last seven games in the league as Gary Caldwell’s side continue to be one of the entertainers of the league. They’ve scored in each of their last seven matches and their last three at home. They’ve also conceded in their last six matches and I fancy Port Vale to give them some problems here. Vale have been in decent form too; they beat Doncaster 1-2 in midweek. Their away form hasn’t been great, but they’ve won two of their last four and they should be able to find a way past this generous Wigan defence.
Millwall v Crewe Tip
Over 2.5 Goals
Crewe have been bankers for over 2.5 this season, but they could only draw 0-0 in midweek with Bury. The Shakers are struggling for goals though and at the Den, Millwall should bring out a more open game. Millwall’s last four matches have all finished with over 2.5 goals with the Lions scoring 12 times in five matches. They’re a good young side, who are in the hunt for a play-off place and with Aidan O’Brien, Lee Gregory and Steve Morison all scoring goals recently, they should get a couple here. Crewe rarely keep clean sheets and it’s hard to see them keeping Millwall out. Steve Davis wants his side to be more attacking and that’s shown in recent performances (midweek aside) and they should find a way past the South Londoners. It’s just one clean sheet in 8 for Millwall and they certainly look like they could ship a goal here.
Accrington v Bristol Rovers Tip
Over 2.5 Goals
Accrington are back at the superbly named Wham Stadium and they are playing well and in the hunt for a play-off spot. They beat Hartlepool 3-1 here in their last appearance and their last three matches have all finished with three or more goals. Stanley have plenty of goals in them and they have netted seven times in their last three matches with Shay McCartan in flying form. Bristol Rovers looked like they were going to get the better of promotion rivals Plymouth at the weekend, but they suffered a last minute equaliser and they will want to get back to winning ways here. They’ve scored 21 of their 39 goals away from home and are making good strides under Darrell Clarke. This one should be a very entertaining clash.
Crawley v Mansfield Tip
Over 2.5 Goals
Mansfield came back from 1-0 down to turn the tables on Morecambe in midweek winning 2-1 thanks to two late goals. They are away again as they make the long trip to Sussex. They’ve scored seven goals and conceded five in their last four away matches and they look good to continue that run here. They’ve not kept a clean sheet for 13 matches now and that should give hope to Crawley who have just dropped off recently after a small resurgence. They’ve scored six goals in their last four home matches and they’re still having problems defending and keeping sides out.
