Crystal Palace vs. Brighton – Saturday 1st December, 3pm – 8/11

The Championship throws together one of the oddest rivalries in football this weekend as Crystal Palace welcome Brighton to Selhurst Park. It is impossible to ignore the 19 goals Crystal Palace have scored in their last 6 matches in Croydon when we’re looking for a goalfest. The rivalry should make the atmosphere electric, and with the crowd roaring don’t be surprised to see a red card coming from either side and opening up the game more than it already will be with two attacking sides. Brighton are no strangers to finding the net, having scored 11 in their last 6, and they will be able to get through a Palace defence who have not shown themselves to be impervious recently, conceding 7 in their last 6.

Arsenal vs. Swansea – Saturday 1st December, 3pm – 8/13

This game has the potential to be a matchup between two of the purest footballing sides in league. Or more likely a matchup between two of the most inconsistent sides in terms of performance in the league. However there is one consistency with Arsenal at the Emirates, and that is goals. They’ve scored 14 in their last 6 in North London, and with Theo Walcott looking to force a new contract for himself he will be looking to pounce on a counterattack which the possession football Swansea play allows. However Swansea has some real goal-scoring quality in their side in the likes of Pablo Hernandez and Michu who will be able to find joy against an Arsenal defence which after a fantastic start to the season has reverted to form and allowed far too many goals especially from set pieces.

Liverpool vs. Southampton – Saturday 1st December, 3pm – 8/13

The second worst away side in the league travel to Anfield this weekend, and Liverpool will seek to use the South Coast boys to improve their home statistics which over the last few seasons have fell dramatically. Having contributed to 12 of their last 17 goals, Luis Suarez is again the man to watch in this tie, he will have chomping at the bit to take on such a poor Southampton defence, the defenders just have to hope he isn’t chomping at their ear as some of his other previous ‘form’ has shown. Southampton will be hoping they can find a way past Liverpool, and it is not out of the question. Liverpool’s defence has let itself Down(ing) this season (couldn’t resist) and is not the same as the wall which led Liverpool to two domestic cup finals last year. With their penchant for cross field passes they will have a field day (I’m full of them today) with Johnson and Downing playing in the wide defensive positions and could easily find goals from there.
