Rangers predictions

Rangers vs Celtic betting tips and predictions for their Scottish Premier League match on Saturday 23rd September at 12.00pm. Read todays betting preview for the match below.

A huge Old firm match kicks off at lunchtime on Saturday, in what should prove to be another feisty encounter between two of the games oldest rivals. Brendan Rodgers men have continued where they left off last season and are unbeaten domestically now for a record 55 games. That incredible record is surely something new boss Pedro Caixinha would love to bring to an end. That will be no mean feat though, as Celtic are unbeaten against their opponents in their last five, winning four. Celtic do have a bigger and better squad than Rangers, but in a derby like this anything can happen, especially at Ibrox. We start with our best betting tip for Rangers vs Celtic.

Rangers vs Celtic Predictions

Although I have said that anything can happen in an Old Firm game, which it can, it’s very hard to look past yet another Bhoys win. Brendan Rodgers has instilled a winning mentality in his players and although the Scottish Premier League isn’t of the highest standard, a 55-game unbeaten streak is quite incredible. The last three meetings in the league have seen Celtic victories, including two 5-1 hammerings last season. As long as Celtic keep their discipline, they should prevail here. They have much more quality than their rivals, especially upfront, with Leigh Griffiths and Moussa Dembele at their disposal. Rangers are unbeaten in their last four, but that includes two draws against Hearts and second bottom Partick Thistle. If they make mistakes like they did in their last game, Celtic have more than enough firepower to really punish them and take all three points so a Celtic win starts our Rangers vs Celtic predictions at 8/11.

Score and Win Predictions

As I have just mentioned, I do believe Celtic will win, but I don’t think it will all go their own way. Even when they hammered Rangers last season twice, on both occasions they still conceded. Prior to their clean sheet against Ross County last time out, Hamilton and St Johnstone both got on the scoresheet. Rangers pose much more of an attacking threat than those two teams, proven by the fact they have scored 18 goals in their last six games. At an average of three goals a game, it looks likely that Rangers will score themselves, but it will come down to the fact Celtic should once again outscore them so Celtic to win and BTTS is the second of this weekend’s Rangers vs Celtic predictions.

Anytime Goalscorer Tips

James Forrest didn’t feature anywhere near as much as he would have liked to last season, but he must have done something to impress Brendan Rodgers in pre-season, as he has been one of Celtic’s stand out players this year. Incredibly he has more goals this campaign than both Dembele and Griffiths with five, including four in his last two, with his latest brace coming on Wednesday night against Dundee. He is being used further up the field, even starting in attack in a recent game so is sure to have chances fall his way. His pace will cause plenty of problems for the Rangers backline and at odds of 13/5, we expect him to take one of those chances on Saturday and complete our Rangers vs Celtic betting tips this weekend.

Rangers vs Celtic Team News

Rangers face a defensive selection dilemma ahead of Saturdays huge clash. Experienced centre half Bruno Alves, as well as back up Delcan John both face late fitness tests. Lee Wallace has already been ruled out. Celtic look set to welcome back Moussa Dembele and Jozo Simunovic, after they were rested against Dundee in midweek. Dedryck Boyata played his first minutes of the season midweek, so he is back in contention for a starting place.

Rangers vs Celtic Head to Head Stats

This Old Firm clash is one of the oldest derby matches in football. Not surprisingly that means they have played each other a lot of times, 87 in fact. Celtic just edge the win column, with 38 compared to 31 for Rangers. The clash has seen 18 draws in that time. Celtic have had the better of their recent matches, with Rangers last victory coming in 2011.
