Armstrong Aggregates Temple Stakes – Haydock 4pm Tip

Once staged at the stiff uphill finish of Sandown Park, this Group 2 event over 5 furlongs usually attracts some quality sprinters and Northern trainer Michael Dods is expected to saddle 2018 Prix De L’Abbaye winner Mabs Cross in this contest. This consistent 5-year-old mare won on her seasonal reappearance at Newmarket and should have no problem handling the drying ground.

Battaash is will re-oppose after being beaten into a close fourth position in the ‘Abbaye’ at Longchamp but he will meeting his conqueror on 5lb better terms in this contest, and has won on his seasonal debut during the past three seasons.

Kachy is another horse who could be a threat after winning his last three races on the all-weather circuit, but it may just be that he prefers six furlongs rather than the minimum distance.

Selection: Battaash to Win – 11/10

Bet £20 on Battash with a new Paddy Power account to win £42 – if he loses you get a £20 CASH refund.

EBF British Stallion Studs Cecil Frail Stakes – Haydock 4.35pm Tip

For this Listed event over six furlongs, the former John Gosden trained Perfection could be an interesting contender. Now based at the David O’Meara stable, she was only just beaten earlier this month in a 7f Group 3 event at Lingfield. Never placed outside the first five finishing positions, she won her final race of last term in Listed company, but must carry 3lb more than the other 4-year-old plus runners.

That extra weight could offer an opportunity for all-weather specialist Island Of Life to end a sequence of two close second placings by winning a fourth race in six outings.

However, the William Haggas trained horse was beaten a comfortable looking length by Heavenly Holly last time although reverting to six furlongs may not suit the winner on that occasion.

Selection: Island Of Life to Win – 3/1.

William Bronte Cup Fillies Stakes – York 3.05pm Tip

Staged over 1m6f on the Knavesmire, Enbihaar from the John Gosden stable will be aiming to follow her seasonal debut victory at Goodwood earlier this month by winning this Group 3 contest. She was an impressive winner that day and is capable of upgrading from Listed company.

Among the opposition is the Mark Johnston filly Bayshore Freeway who has won two of her three starts this season and last featured winning a Musselburgh handicap over nearly 1m6f, where she proved her stamina in the closing stages. Tackling group company for the first time will be a test for this progressive horse.

Both Pilaster and Maid Up are evenly matched on a Goodwood Group 2 race over this distance last year, but these two fillies disappointed in their recent seasonal reappearances.

Selection: Enbihaar to Win – 2/1

William Hill Sprint Handicap – York 3.45pm Tip

Copper Knight was a 5f winner at the recent Dante meeting on the same racecourse and has won his last two races at York, although he carried just 9st 3lb that day as opposed to seven pounds more and top weight in this Class 2 5f race.

Further down the weights, Leodis Dream has won his last five races over this distance including three times this term and receives a weight allowance for his 3-year-old age. Further improvement is possible for this gelding in a first start against his elders.

Among the lower weights, don’t rule out Acclaim The Nation as an each way contender after finishing either first or second in his last six starts but in lower class company.

Selection: Leodis Dream to Win – 7/1
