World Cup 2018 Predictions for Group B – Spain

When it comes to the subject of international football, and all the upcoming fervour and excitement that is expected to greet us at the 2018 World Cup in Russia this summer, many people automatically cast their minds towards the tiki-taka inspired principles of Spain.

On the back of their most recent endeavours at major international tournaments, Spain remain one of the outstanding favourites to go all the way and truly assert their dominance with real style. In the eyes of many clued-in onlookers, the 2018 World Cup is already theirs for the taking.

Will Spain win the 2018 World Cup?

Spain have every chance of landing a second World Cup trophy in their cabinet this summer. They are expected to see off their Group B opposition with relatively little fuss, whilst their wide array of stunning midfield options remain some of the most impressive among the entire competition.

Of course, the likes of Germany and Brazil will likely have something to say about Spain’s proposed favourite status ahead of the 2018 World Cup in Russia. If Spain can nonetheless rediscover that same winning touch that brought them untold success in years gone by, Spanish fans will once again find themselves celebrating in the face of their international counterparts.

Who will be Spain’s star man at the World Cup?

Julen Lopetegui’s first-team squad includes some of the most talented players across the entire spectrum of world football, especially within the all-important midfield department.

From Thiago Alcantara, David Silva…and of course, the marvellous Andres Iniesta, Spain have every reason to expect great things from their team this summer. After all, no nation operating at the 2018 World Cup in Russia will pass the ball with as much finesse and class as those notoriously gifted Spaniards.

But perhaps Real Madrid’s oft-forgotten Isco will ultimately steal the show ahead of his like-minded contemporaries in Russia. The 25-year-old is a talented passer, displaying strong positional sense and unruly vision all across the park.

His domestic employers may be enduring something of a season to forget among the Spanish top-flight in 2017/18, yet Real Madrid’s temporary decline will surely fail to hinder their mercurial star midfielder as he turns out for Spain this summer.

What are Spain’s Group B fixtures?

Morocco – The North Africans could potentially prove a tough nut to crack at the 2018 World Cup. With the likes of Mehdi Benatia and Younes Belhanda among their ranks, perhaps Spain may find themselves limited to a simple 1-0 victory when all is said and done this summer.

Iran – Whilst Iran will most likely approach their upcoming World Cup duties with the utmost enthusiasm, it remains somewhat difficult to envisage Spain failing to see off their Asian opposition as the two sides face off against one another among the opening group-stages.

Portugal – Spain’s local neighbours will obviously provide Julen Lopetegui’s team with their most serious Group B opposition. Whilst both sides could effectively cancel one another out when push turns to shove, expect a fiery encounter between the two mainstay favourites among the European game.

Spain’s World Cup Predictions

Once again, don’t count Spain out when it comes to highlighting your favourites to succeed at the 2018 World Cup in Russia. From their widely recognised keeper between the sticks, to Lopetegui’s multitude of options within the goal-scoring department – this is a team that certainly mean business.

Spain will be looking to re-write a few crucial wrongs after failing to cover themselves in glory at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil. For this reason alone, expect some improved fortunes from the determined Spaniards as Julen Lopetegui’s side begin to operate with an unrelenting point to prove.
