When Will The England World Cup 2018 Squad Be Announced?

It’s currently yet to be announced when the England squad will be announced but if previous tournaments are anything to go by, it’ll most certainly be after the Premier League season has ended.

Ahead of Brazil Roy Hodgson named his squad on May 12, while four years earlier Capello opted for May 11.

That suggests we can expect a similar date this time around, giving the squad plenty of time to prepare for friendlies with Nigeria and Costa Rica.

The Premier League finishes on May 13, 2018 and it’s generally thought a squad announcement will come shortly after that. The last four squads have been announced in the second week of May, so it would be unlikely England deviate from that.

Who’s Already On The Plane?

We’ve already made our England squad predictions at thatsagoal and it’s almost certain a fair few places for Russia are guaranteed.

In terms of Goalkeepers we’ll see a threesome of Jordan Pickford, Jack Butland and Joe Hart pretty much certain to go, although Southgate could be brave and omit the latter from his squad.

At the back there are a number of Defenders that will already be cancelling their summer holidays.

Kyle Walker, Manchester City’s £50million man will be taking up the right back position, while teammate John Stones will be a preferred choice at centre half. Gary Cahill will also be guaranteed a spot on the plane.

The midfield could be an interesting one with a number of places still up for grabs. Tottenham Midfielders Eric Dier and Dele Alli will be spending their summers in Russia. As will Raheem Sterling and most probably Jordan Henderson. The rest will ultimately depend on form and fitness. It’s all to play for.

Raheem Sterling sent England fans wild against Italy at the 2014 World Cup – but the strike went wide!

Much of England’s success at the 2018 World Cup will rely on the form of Harry Kane. Arguably the best striker in the world currently, he’s guaranteed a start in every Group fixture and will be at the head of a squad of Forwards that is also guaranteed to have Marcus Rashford and Jamie Vardy in.

What’s the best England World Cup Betting Tip?

As things stand, England look like they’ll have enough quality to get through the Group stage. Belgium are the obvious main threat but That game comes last in World Cup Group G. Hopefully England would have got positive results against both Tunisia and Panama to secure their progress. Belgium should also qualify for the latter stages so our England World Cup best bet is for England AND Belgium to qualify from Group G, with Belgium winning the gtoup. The best odds are currently 11/10 for this bet.
