Colombia vs Japan predictions and betting tips for their Group H fixture on Tuesday, June 19th at 1pm. Both sides will be looking for three points in their first fixture at the World Cup, who will come out on top?
Colombia have some good attacking players with the likes of James Rodriguez, Juan Cuadrado and Radamel Falcao available for selection. Rodriguez will be looking to re-discover his form at the last World Cup where in 2014 the Bayern Munich man won the Golden Boot with 6 goals.
Meanwhile, Japan are the underdogs of this group and they’ll be relying on their midfield men Keisuke Honda and Shinji Kagawa to provide some magic. Colombia are narrow favourites for this group and the South American side will be hoping they can start their World Cup with a huge three points and stamp their authority on Group H.
Colombia’s attacking threat
The Colombians have good options at the attacking end of the field and they were a big catalyst in helping the South American side qualifying for the World Cup in a group containing Brazil, Uruguay, Argentina, Chile and Peru.
Radamel Falcao missed out at the last World Cup through injury but the Monaco striker was impressive at the French outfit last campaign. The former Manchester United player is expected to lead the line for Colombia while they have a good option in Carlos Bacca to replace him. Meanwhile, James Rodriguez needs no introduction and we expect the midfield maestro to once again to impress on the big stage. Juan Cuadrado offers pace and creativity on the wing and we expect the Juventus man to have a big impact on this group. He’s the first of our Colombia vs Japan predictions and we’re backing James to score first at odds of 5/1.

Can Colombia justify group favouritism?
Colombia are favourites in Group H which contains Poland, Senegal and Tuesday’s opponents Japan. We expect Colombia to get their campaign off to a good start here and collect all three points against Japan. Despite having the likes of Kagawa and Honda, Colombia have a superior side to Japan and we cannot see the underdogs gaining anything from this fixture.
A win here for the Colombians would give them great momentum going into their final two group matches against Poland and Senegal, while they will be confident of topping Group H.
