Groups C and D at the World Cup kick-off on Saturday 14^th June with Columbia vs Greece in Group C and Uruguay vs Costa Rica before Italy vs England in Group D.

Group C Betting Tips:

Columbia have been one of the most popular predictions to win the World Cup outright but the injury to Falcao is a massive blow. His replacements did not score in qualifying and their defensive is a problem. Their center backs are 35 and 38 however they did only concede 13 goals in qualifying. The Ivory Coast have finally got a good draw but often choke in big tournaments. However they have only lost four in their last 41 matches and two of those were friendlies. The defence look a problem and their goalkeeper is shocking, however with Yaya Toure and Didier Drogba in their lineup anything is possible. Mark’s World Cup tip is for Ivory Coast to pick up under 3.5 points at 23/20 with Sportingbet.

Japan are an exciting prospect and their best players are now playing in the world’s best leagues. They are a settled outfit and could be World Cup dark horses in Brazil. They do struggle at set pieces and that could be a problem but we’re backing them to pick up over 3.5 points at 4/5. Greece are notoriously hard to beat and set up defensively. Greece only scored 12 in 10 World Cup qualifiers, but did only concede four. No strikers and an ageing midfield spells trouble and the best football tip here is for Greece to finish bottom of Group C at 29/20.

Group D Betting Tips:

Group D is one of the toughest to predict and Italy are slight favourites to win the group in the latest World Cup 2014 betting odds. Italy play good football but the concern will be whether Mario Balotelli is firing, and Rossi has been persistently struggling with injury. They cruised through qualifying and have only lost 15 of 80 World Cup matches. Uruguay are seen by many as having a chance to win the World Cup but we think they are overrated and won’t get out the group. Suarez and Cavania re two world class players but they don’t have enough talent to provide them with enough chances and their defensive setup means it’s counter attack or bust for Uruguay.

England go to Brazil without expectation but their squad looks strong and balanced and they are unbeaten in 90 minutes since the last World Cup four years ago. In our England v Italy predictions we have tipped the draw and that will mean a win against Uruguay is probably needed. Bet on England to get over 4.5 points at 9/10. Costa Rica complete Group D and will cause more problems than people think. They won all five home qualifying matches and have held Spain to a 1-1 draw and only lost 1-0 to Brazil in recent friendlies. A tough group means our World Cup tip is for Costa Rica to pick up no points at 17/10.
