France vs Sweden Predictions, Betting Tips and Preview

France vs Sweden predictions and World Cup 2018 qualifying betting tips for Friday 11th November plus team news and latest betting odds for the match.

The top two teams in the World Cup 2018 European qualifying group A face each other on Friday night when France entertain Sweden and here are two tips for the big game.

France are unbeaten in the group so far and are showing why they are favourites to top this group with their recent performances. Since their disappointing stalemate against Belarus on match day one they have beaten Bulgaria and Holland quite comfortably and are sitting pretty at the top of the group. Their victory in Holland was particularly impressive and showed a strong defensive unit which we haven’t seen from the French in quite a while. Paul Pogba scored in that match and his partnership with Antoine Griezmann is very strong off and on the field and this has sparked rumours that the later could be joining Manchester United in the future. I’m not too sure that will happen but I am sure that they will be the biggest threats to the Swedish back line on Friday. Sweden have coped quite well without their hero Zlatan Ibrahimovic after he retired from international football in the summer and are also unbeaten in the group. They drew 1-1 away in Holland in their first game of the group and have followed that up with back to back wins against Luxembourg and Bulgaria. This has left them second in the group and it has given them a strong platform to try and qualify from with nearly a third of the matches played. Without Zlatan they are more of a team and look defensively solid and it will be tough for the French to break them down and the average age of the squad has dropped drastically in recent years so it could be promising times for the Swedish fans.

France vs Sweden Predictions

My first France vs Sweden betting tip is going to be in the anytime goal scorer market and it’s going to be for someone I have mentioned in my preview already: Antoine Griezmann. He seems to always score when he is on international duty and he scored the last time France were at home against Bulgaria and I expect him to do the same here. The best odds for this are 11/10 at Betfair.

Griezmann to score anytime – 11/10 with Betfair.

Both Teams to Score Tips

My second France vs Sweden betting tip is going to be for both teams to score. Odds for both teams to score are normally very good on the international break and there is value to be found. I think France will score at home and with Sweden scoring in every group game so far I expect them to find the net here as well. France also conceded in their last home game against Bulgaria so odds of 6/4 at Ladbrokes seem very good value to me.

Both teams to score – 6/4 with Ladbrokes.

France v Sweden Team News

France have recalled Instagram legend Patrice Evra to the squad after he missed the last two qualifiers.  There are eight Premier League players who were called up by Didier Deschamps including Oliver Giroud and Dimitri Payet who will both be looking to continue their club form with their country. As for the Sweden squad, they only have the one football league representative in their squad and that is promising Leeds United defender Pontus Jansson and other notable Swedish players include John Guidetti who was once of Manchester City and Ola Toivonen who had a brief spell at Sunderland.

France v Sweden Head to Head Stats

These two sides have faced each other four times in the past fifteen years and France have won two of these, Sweden have won one and they have drawn one. In their last meeting, a late Raphael Varane goal was enough for France to win 1-0 but Sweden did win their last competitive meeting against the French and this was in 2012 when they won 2-0 in the European Championships.

France vs Sweden Betting Odds

France are unsurprisingly strong favourites for this match and are best priced 2/7 for the win with William Hill. The draw is 19/4 at Betway and if you fancy a shock Sweden win then head over to BetVictor as they are offering 14/1 for this to happen. If you do think the French will win then a potential bet could be France to be winning at HT and FT and this is 17/20 with Coral and finally in the correct score market, France to win 2-0 is the most popular at 19/4 with Bet Victor but France to win 3-1 at 12/1 with Bet365 seems like a better option to me.
